We skipped the bassinet and went with an arms reach cosleeper. It gives the option of using it like a bassinet or dropping one side and attaching it to your bed. It was brilliant given how often dd used to wake. It also has wheels which made it easy to move out into the lounge for during the day.

I have 4 children, with my first two I had a bassinet (one with wheels) and they were in it for about a month. With my third I had a Moses Basket, it was so beautiful and my daughter slept SO well in it, I found it slightly bigger then a bassinet also. My fourth, he went straight into a cot as he was too big for the basket.

I would recommend a Moses Basket, I got mine from big w it was around $120 at the time I think and was so beautiful. We didn't buy the stand and we took it everywhere with us.

With DS I had a Kidsline one and hated it, way to low and the wheels kept falling off. I'm 178cm tall and had a c-section so this bassinet was really unsuitable but I had no idea at the time, it was just so cute lol. He slept in it until he was 5 months.

With DD I got a Fisher Price My Little Lamb bassinet, it's a good height, has wheels & you could turn the wheels up so the bassinet could be rocked. I also found it longer & deeper than most others so DD stayed in it till 7months.
