I was talking to someone who has inside knowledge the other day (they know someone who was on the block), and they said it's even more staged than you think...that when giving comments re the judges comments they re-take and re-take until it's dramatic enough...making people cry just for footage, asking them to swear/make rude hand gestures etc. for entertainment. It's basically all made up. More than what you think. And then these people are being judged when they go back to real life, because of the person they had to act to be like on the show for ratings.

Julia goes on about the show ruining her professional reputation, but it doesn't look so good on Karlee who's a quantity surveyor and doesn't have enough money to finish!!!

My theory is they're all made to say it so that potential buyers can see how much money has been put in to their super expensive apartment.

I think $200,000 is no where near enough money to pretty much build an apartment and fully furnish it so I bet they knew it wouldn't be done just to create drama - they know they have to finish it and I think last year they gave them all more money?

They get heaps of money in sponsor products too so pretty much most of their tiles, taps, paint, vanities, flooring, lighting is covered. But this is what I actually don't like about the show - it really limits creativity for people who want to use their own suppliers.

Is it just the editing to make more drama or is Dan really that freaking awful? He just seems so arrogant and rude. It's actually difficult to watch him behave so dreadfully with no consequences.

I've been wondering the same thing. Is he / are they, this year's villains? Or is he / are they, just that awful to be around and communicate with.

Default The Block 2016 - Woo Hoo!

I can't watch him any more. I'm sure the network is doing it intentionally but he's such an a$$.

Nope just got my answer. The way he just spoke to and about Carly shows that he really is a misogynistic pig.

It's been said before that they're heavily scripted so I do wonder how much is him
