I was horrified at a friends response when I told her a daycare I was looking at had male carers. Her instant response was that I shouldn't send my son there, that there was a case in Melbourne where a male carer was molesting a child.

I politely told her I will send my child where I see fit and that she has a son... How would she feel if everyone's instant reaction was that he is a paedophile. Really upset me actually.

I'm guilty of the above. I'm ashamed to admit.

I went on a tour of a centre that came recommended by a mate of dh's. I went along and thought it seemed ok, I wasn't blown away. then the educator showing me around told me they have a make educator who all the kids adore. it was a reflex reaction, I'm so ashamed to say. like I didn't run away or anything, and we did actually put our ds down as an applicant for a place. but yeah, just when she said it, it made me think twice.

Default What do you think - man at toddler time

I'm a children's librarian. Last year I had an older gentleman come a few times and watch story time through the door way. After a few times he approached me and told me 'my wife and I used to bring our granddaughter to story time. My wife died a few years back and I'm too old to manage the granddaughters by myself, but I miss hearing all the nursery rhymes so much. Thank you'
I was so, so touched and pleased that I could brighten his day.
If I see anyone watching in on story time I generally just assume that it's giving them good memories, of their own childhoods or their children's or grandchildren's.
Honestly, men can enjoy children and childhood too just as women can. It makes me so sad that people would think such horrible things about them.
