Default Grease and oil in washing machine

Any ladies have partners who work and their clothes get full of grease and oil (mechanic etc) how do you make sure your washing machine stays clean for your other clothes to be washed in?

I know grease can ruin your machine so is there any magic trick to making sure it stays clean after washing the work clothes??

I used to put dishwashing detergent into the wash with his clothes and then run a really hot wash wth more detergent after they had been through. It was a waste of water, but at least I knew that the grease was out!

Default Grease and oil in washing machine

You can get something called triclenium from bunnings/paint shops that can be used in washing machines to clean them

Edit because I suck at typing on my
    Phone

Dishwashing liquid. It works. Plus it pulls the grease out of the clothes so they are cleaner too.

It also works of poopy clothes

My husband gets caked in grease. I run a time cycle with detergent first then run an intensive wash cycle with 60degree water and detergent after that.

Every couple of months I run a washing machine cleaner through and I wipe out the seals fort nightly.

Thanks everyone. So with a front loader do I pour in some dish liquid over the clothes and put normal wash powder in the normal slot? And that should keep it clean while washing clothes? Or run an empty cycle with just dish liquid after washing his clothes?

Will look out for that cleaner at Bunnings too thanks

Put dishwashing liquid in the powder slot and some white vinegar in the fabric softener slot. I don't add any powder.
