@Caesardust congratulations!!! I missed the photo but assuming you're engaged:-) here's to a shot-gun wedding, i say! @MamaKes hi! I was reading this thread long before i posted and you were one of the first ladies i read about on here doing de. I didnt even really know anything about it, then you mentioned sa thread n then i checked it and slso foundcthe greece thread, whichbis what ive decided to do, so if it wasnt for you, i wouldn't have ever found my way to athens. Thank you so much xox @faithhopeandlove for athens de its about aud 10k for cycle costs (epu, onor meds, transfer, freezing leftover embys), flights about 1500-2000k per person depending on high season/low season variations and 60aud per night for accomodation in apartment, so 600aud for 10 days. I havent been yet but when i get back in october i can give you exact figures. If you check our greek clinics be sure to check their freezing policies. 1 clinic i looked at seemed good but they freeze remaining embies 3 to a vial, so you have to thaw all 3, which i didnt like. My dr there also said to check that cheap clinics arent doing shared cycles (unless thats egat you actually want) Hope that helps a bit. Basically, same $ as capetown, but anonymous donor n dr chooses donor not you (which i actually liked coz it was making me too mental thinking about what to choose/not choose) i actually liked that i didnt have to be involved in choosing and i am a wog, so greece was a good cultural, skin tone match for me. I hope that helps :-)

So the story goes.....we were in Kirstenbosch gardens at the foot of table mountain sitting on the grass in the sunshine admiring the view and he said 'will you marry me' in Zulu and I said 'what are you saying?' So he showed me his phone with the translation and then he put the ring on my finger. He had been so nervous he felt sick. Perfect location, gorgeous ring and hopefully a good luck charm for this de cycle all rolled into one. It will never be forgotten that's for sure. Picturesque!

Quick cycle question ladies. Do you ever have a blood test to check levels before the transfer? Today is day 1? (day after Epu) and we are aiming for a day 5 transfer on Monday. They haven't asked me to do anything now until Monday but I wonder if my body is in the best way to receive this embryo. Should I ask them to check anything?

Today is 9dpo so could start, but earliest I've ever started is 11dpo. I swore I would never do it before work again as during the last chem my positive turned to negative the nexr day and I had a meltdown and couldn't cope with work. When it dried out a positive turned up, but it was too late then. I might POAS saturday but have a lot going on.

My biggest trouble is I work with toddlers, so cannot put my head down at a desk and work, I have to deal with people and children all day long. It's like my failure is just being thrown in my face constantly and I have to smile and act happy. I just want to be grumpy

I had twinges and cramping during my two chems and nothing in my 2 BFN. I've had nothing this time round. I wish I could spend the rest of this time away from everyone, but have to be at work...
@skeeter i hear ya mate, the last few days are the worst. I get real bad thrn. Cant think about anything else. Its only a few days but it might as well be forever xox

@Caesardust awww bless your DP thats lovely! I loved @Tahlis post about you in your flowing wedding gown with a baby bump, so lovely. Ive never had any bloods done before transfer, its usually a day after to check progesterone. I guess just try and relax now for Monday, are they transferring one embryo or 2? So exciting! Your lining was perfect on your last scan so you are all ready to go! When do you get your next embryo update?

@skeeter yes this part of the tww is the worst, it really messes with your head. If you're only 9dpo today you wouldnt be feeling anything pregnancy related anyway, it would be more around 11/12 or after that any of that starts happening so hang in there (says the most negative nelly you've ever seen in her past TWWs!). Distraction is really the only thing you can do. Good luck xx

Thanks for the replies ladies. Our bub is only 3 months old but I am trying to figure out what we can afford next year. DH has cracked it majorly with his job and wants to quit so that will make things very tricky. I have a casual job that I can go back to (I got fed up with my full time job awhile back so I can't blame DH for his meltdown) so I may need to work more hours if we go to DE.

@winsor your suggestion sounds very good. We have time on our side so can wait plus I did not like the FS we had at Genea. Such an arrogant so and so. I really did not want to deal with him again.

Thanks for the costings too ladies. It seems DE is pricey wherever you do it. Mind you if I got an 80% success rate like @tuxcat I think it would be worth it!

I can relate to that fed up with job thing too! Ive just been sorting out stuff all day with the cycle and we've now changed health funds and it seems like the whole thing is coming out a bit cheaper than what I thought, so thats brilliant! Im thinking all up its 10k and that includes us travelling down to canberra and staying there for 6 nights as we thought we would have a bit of a holiday whilst we are down there. I guess if we need more FETs then thats when it starts to add up.

Yeah Im quite cynical about the 80% I don't quite know what thats based on, my donor isnt proven as she's never donated but has kids and is young/fit/healthy. We shall see.

You don't get to choose your FS at RPA - what was your FS initials?? All of them that work at RPA are Genea FS. Not the junior drs but all the others are. At the end of the day you've already cycled so any Dr that you saw at the initial appointment would be basing things off that anyway. Then whoever is on for the day does all the monitoring and decisions regarding your cycle and the nurses do the communications with the patients. The nurses are all lovely, its a really good clinic.
