    I'm in Sydney and I pay $1300 per year council rates. But then water is seperate that's another $1200 a year at least.

    I'm about 45 mins from city in Perth and mine are $2000. Not a fancy area at all. I'm getting ripped compared to u guys I think

    SA, rates are $2600 for the year for me. It goes on council property valuation. I got my bill last week but I pay quarterly, doesn't include water/sewerage that is seperate and roughly $2800 for the year. My block is 900sqm

    Melbourne inner west, about 11km out of cbd - $2k per annum.

    water rates come with our water bills..can't remember what our water rates are.

    We paid about the same as you, $2200 in the northern suburbs of Perth and very close to the beach.

    Too much, if you ask me.

    Wow. I'm in SA with the same size block and I'm $1700 (plus another $1400 for water and sewer). I guess it goes on your capital value.

    Following.... we received our first rates bill of approx $500 (for a quarter) - and we haven't even moved in yet - still building (I nearly pooped my pants!!)!! So this doesn't even include water or waste services. We are outside of Brisbane (considered rural) - on 1 acre.

    $1200 and I'm in the ghetto of Southern Adelaide then prob $$1000 for water
