Default How much are your rates?

Another thread got me thinking.. I think the cost of living here in country vic is quite high.

Rates are $2200 per year and that is not for a fancy area. We don't even have footpaths and so many holes in the roads it's not funny!

Do you mind sharing what you pay in rates?

Does that also include your water charges? I thought in Qld it did? Water charges are billed separately here and are around $450 x4 a year

In Melbourne it depends on what council you are in. We pay under 1000 for a 720 square block my parents who live 40 minutes away pay nearly 3 times what we do on a similar size block.

In qld water charges are separate. We pay about $300 per quarter for them. Rates are about $500 per quarter, it depends on you land value per m2 and size of your block.

I'm in SA and it varies by council and land value. My rates are about $1300 a year and water is about $1000 a year for the base rates plus usage.

I'm on the border of nsw and Vic (on the nsw side but with a Vic postcode!). Our rates are about $850 a year. We are classified as residential rural, have water tanks (aren't connected to town water at all) and not connected to town sewage. We have septic tank that gets released underground and onto the garden (just the water part!).
