Default Please help! Child snorting like a pig!

Sounds crazy, but my 4yr old is making this horrible pig snorting sound (through his mouth not nose) when he eats. It's gotten worse over the last week. It's stared about 3 weeks ago. It doesn't happen in his sleep and not very much when resting. At first I thought it would pass, but it seems to have worsen. I asked him to stop and he said he can't! I tried to "teach" him how to breath through his nose while eating or quietly through his mouth but it doesn't work. I've booked Gp appointment but was wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be. Thanks.

It could be habitual now. The worst thing in that case would be to draw attention to it. I would ignore it (as hard as I imagine that can be!)

    *sigh*
    Thanks
I'm just worried he'll get teased at school (starts in Jan). Most of the time we do ignore, but sometimes we've had enough. Lol.

In my experience younger children can be more accepting. It is so hard not to draw attention to annoying things but please try really hard. I made a mistake by giving a name to something my daughter did and now it's a compulsive thing. If only I had let it go!

If it's only been 3 weeks maybe it's physiological? Maybe blocked sinuses? Hopefully the GP can help
