I have to admit my interest is a morbid fascination too. It just seems so disorganised

Can't wait! Love watching these dedicated athletes putting everything they have into something they love.

I too think Rio wasn't the place for the Olympics for all reasons stated previously, but I do like the Olympics in general.

Damn pregnancy hormones, I keep crying every time they play someone's "I'm going to Rio" phone call!

Then I decided to look at future Olympic cities and see Brisbane will likely put a bid in for 2028. Which - you guessed it - made me cry!

Not much into the ceremonies myself, but I'm looking forward to the sports themselves getting underway.

I'm the same. It's always the time of year I'm super grateful we have FOXTEL, DVDs and now Netflix so I don't have to put up with seeing any of it!

I know someone who grew up in Rio and a couple of people who still live there and even they can't believe they decided to have it there (or that anyone would want to go there). In their words "This is not a nice touristy city to come to. People are going to die". Hope that's not the case, but I guess we'll see :/

Ah, don't feel too bad, I was crying into my cornflakes and I'm not even pregnant!

It's just with all the bad news and horror lately, it was just so lovely to see the human race come together in harmony.
Why can't it just be like that all the time.

I thought the opening ceremony was beautiful really loved it! The official stuff was boring as hell but I fast forwarded that part lol I love seeing how emotional people get, like the torch relay. And the carnival dancing and music was awesome.

Re: "this is not a nice touristy city" I've heard the same about rio from Brazilian friends. But I do love the Brazilian culture.
