    Default Excess lipase

So after weeks of pumping around the clock, various herbs and now two weeks of domperidone I think I have my supply up. And now I realise my expressed breast milk goes off after about 6 hours in the fridge. Apparently I am one of the women with too much lipase. Makes my milk super digestible but not storable.

big sigh. I'm back to work in 7 weeks. And work for 8 hours a day... That's it with breastfeeding then

You don't have to give up completely!! If you want to keep it up, don't give up xx there's 24hrs in a day so you can still feed for half or more.

Arg NORgirl... it's so frigging hard isn't it?! What if you were to freeze it? I'm at the end of my limit with the pumping/ bottle feeding. It's only the guilt I feel that's keeping me pumping. I'm seeing a lactation consultant Monday which hopefully will help with starting breast feeding. If not I don't think we'll last much longer either.

Do you think you could breast feed at night and formula during the day or would it hurt to much to pump and dump during the day?

Sorry being reading along in your thread try ringing the Australian breastfeeding association they will be able to help you. I believe you may just have to pasturise your milk after you pump so should just involve microwaving it for a minute or so. But ring them to check first good luck5

Thanks everyone. I timed my batches today ( I used to all pour them in the one daily bottle before) and the taste seems to change somewhere between 12 and 24 hours in the fridge... I intend to continue bf as long as I can, but start to feel uncomfortable after 4 and downright in pain after six hours with no feed. So once I start work I would have to pump at least once during the day. By the time I am home I would then have to prioritise feeding that milk over nursing and pump again... Or donate the milk pumped at lunch (apparently it is acceptable for babies who are on feeding tubes as there is nothing wrong with it strictly speaking).. Or accept that my supply will decrease. Which it may well do anyway....

@MrsTugs you are right of course it does not have to mean wean completely or by force but realistically it will make things very hard. I will probably phase out the domperidone after this prescription
@flowers21: yes you can scald the milk but that also kills many of the things that make mothers milk superior to formula. Like using extra native olive oil to deep fry iykwim? sorry to say just using formula is so much simpler... I did fill in the donor FAQs at kind Edwards, they may be able to use any excess for premies as the taste doesn't matter with feeding tubes and it is actually more easily digestible.
@Peedypie: so sorry to hear - anything in particular you are finding exceptionally difficult? Would Austin be full term now? Perhaps just venting will help? It is hard hard work getting bf established sometimes!

So my induction has been brought forward to tomorrow!! Currently sitting in hospital, playing the waiting game

Good news is that when they went to put in the gel (to 'ripen' my cervix) I was already 2cm dilated! So didn't end up needing the gel. OB said it is a possibility I will go into labour naturally overnight (fingers crossed!!) if not, will have my waters broken at 6am and have the induction drip started at 8am.

Not long now!!! Just hoping Baby Barca kicks things along naturally before 8am

Completely understand if you choose to go straight formula in your situation @NORgirl I just don't want you to feel like it's your only option. Frikken hard isn't it. No matter what you choose, you'll have something you're having to compromise on. We are here for you, whatever you do xx

Omg Barca exciting. Thinking of you. Will be exciting if you go naturally.

Dear Mums and Mums to be.. Firstly I want to apologise for being so absent from this thread. I have been working day and night and literally took maternity leave yesterday...
Meanwhile having a check up CTG due to mild pre eclampsia. And the next thing you know it was Ana emergency C section. Due to Low heart beat. Lucky I had my mum with me... As sadly my husband was a 3 hr drive away for his last day of work... Never mind the end result was perfect. Happy to announce our contribution to the world arriving at 1:30pm on 25/9/16 is "Evie Rose". She is a little early so is being monitored in special care. So far she seems to be all okay. She measured in at 2.5kg. After 5 years (14 rounds of IVf) it's mind boggling to have her in my arms. I feel totally complete and so in love. All the very best to the Mums and also to the mums to be.. Leanne xx IMG_1474810239.919511.jpgIMG_1474810261.606993.jpg

To be honest it's just so time consuming! Austin is full term now. His due date was Monday just gone. The LC I'm seeing is a specialist in prem babies so I'm hoping she's got some good tips!
