Congratulations NORgirl! 💙 we needed some August babies!

Austin is doing well but has lost a little weight and has a feeding tube in. I get to have him in my room today which is fabulous. Means I don't have to go to the special care nursery to see him. I've been hand expressing so I'm literally milking myself like a cow every few hours. 😂 Bub is being supplemented by formula to stretch his tummy so is really spewy but so far so good. My milk seems to be coming in so hopefully I will be able to use the pump soon which may increase my dignity a touch. Haha!

Went to doc today and Lachlan has reflux. So cranky that all the Mach nurses kept telling me he was crying because he is a baby and that some babies vomit every now and then.... Grrrrrr. Starting the process now. First see if infant gaviscon works, if not move to Zantac and if that doesn't work we move to losec. Are any of you ladies using losec for your bubs? How is it used? How effective is it?

    Hey Mona
Losec is a compound so liquid and I add it to 20ml of the bottle as she just spits it out on its own... im not sure how effective it is as she still spits up heaps and moans and groans... we use the probiotics too and a wind wind drop too... im actually getting a neonatal nurse who does private app (child care rebatable) for her reflux and some other advice so once she has been I will let you know what she says... one thing we do is feed her upright and hold her upright after feeds and make sure we always get a good burp out before settling her down...

Congrats norgirl and peedy! Austin was a name I loved if we were going to have a boy!

So my little girl is not going anywhere. I'm 40+3 now, and super jealous of all these timely births! My SPD is getting worse and worse - I've been on a crutch for the last 2 1/2 months and this week i'm almost immobile. So my OB is worried about the possible further damage I could do to my pelvis in labour and is not confident that I would labour successfully. So I'm now scheduled for a CS next Wednesday. If labour starts before then we'll deal with it, but otherwise, it's sunroof time. Honestly, I'm kind of relieved, the induction was freaking me out, particularly around how my pelvis was going to hold up so I'm happier with this decision.

So if not before, my new date will be 24/08 - woohoo!!!! And my now massive baby girl will be here!

omg the stuff nurses say... I have my own rant on the topic, at the moment I am still in tears. That patronising tone too yeah sounds familiar.

i had breast reduction surgery in my twenties and it is common knowledge that this may impact your ability to breast feed. I have been telling all nurses and requesting top up formula. They made me fight for every drop. Bub was thriving and only lost 60g by day three. Then at 72 hours post birth I was told again to reduce formula because my milk is about to come in. I was told formula would "make Bub too lazy to suck, he was just clusterfeeding, this was normal, they are all feral at this stage and I could bring him to the nursery if he is getting too much." Oh and "don't use the breast pump you'll overstimulate yourself". I was like this is not right, he is working hard at the breast and he's a great baby. I had to fight for two days for the lactation consultant to see us. She took one look and said I don't have enough milk it might be from the surgery. That's what I have been saying for five days!!!!

They finally weighed him, he lost over 100g in 24 hours while I was being told to "not spoil him with formula". I am being discharged tomorrow and can't wait to get out of here!

    ---

PS: after all the upset, I had a nice warm shower then sat down and had an hour long session with the Medela symphony and lots of strong massaging my breasts. I got 50 mls out between both breasts which I am very happy with. I'll definitely get a pump and try to stimulate rather than being scared to overstimulate as advised.

I was mostly just sick of repeating myself and no one listening.. When I seen the doctor I told him to listen to everything before he says anything. As soon as I finished speaking he said that he has reflux.... Thank you for listening!!!!
