Default No idea what to get my 3 yr old for bday and Xmas!

    Help!
My little boy turns 3 in October so I want to start putting things away. And then of course Christmas is around the corner.
I have no idea what to get him, he has so many outside toys already, and heaps of little people toys, cars trucks, lego etc.

I've got his main birthday present which is one of those wooden train tables with a train set on top.

What are 3 years olds into?! I want to get him things that will last and will hold his interest for more than 10 seconds lol

What is he into? What movies does he like? Does he like art and books? My DS loved the Cars movies at that age so he got tons of Cars stuff plus he got his first big bike at 3 ( we already had a balance bike which I would recommend if you don't have one yet) same with a trampoline , 3 is s great age to get one!

I agree with Elijahs Mum, a bike is a great present for a 3 year old Trampoline too, that's what I think we're going to do for Christmas

I agree about the bike. I know it's an outside toy but they're great. Also a clam shell with sand maybe?

Thanks! He alrwady has a balance bike, scooter and radio flyer trike. He has always loved anything with wheels and i went a bit OTT last bday and xmas lol
Did you ladies get proper bikes with trainer wheels at this age? I would love to get him a trampoline but unfortunately our yard is on a big slope.
He isn't really into movies yet but sometimes will sit still enough to watch a few shows on the abc haha

His baby brother is due in November so I was thinking maybe something to do with that but I don't know what? Maybe a new baby doll he can pretend to be like mummy with?
Though he has dolls and doesn't show much interest in them for very long hmmm

We never used training wheels, DS was very good on his balance bike and after maybe 2 or 3 goes on a real bike he was riding by himself ( just after his 3rd birthday) the balance bike gives them really good balance , I think training wheels make it harder to learn as they rely on them too much

This year our 3yo is getting a rocket ship, a pool toy and swimmers, a mr men anthology and a personalised backpack and lunch box for when he starts preschool next year.

We are pretty conservative as he will get loads from family, and his birthday is in November. Not sure what he will get for his birthday, I'm waiting to see what he really loves at that point.

My DS just turned 3 recently and his favourite presents were:

    - a black & decker toy drill set
    - a john deer tractor
    - some puzzles (both wooden & lenticular)
    - some wooden threading beads ($5 from kmart)

He also got a trampoline, which is his absolute fave.

Plus he got more cars & Lego, which of course he loves too.

Puzzles (like those big 30-50 piece floor ones), reading books, colouring books & pencils, play doh.. All these things hold their attention for longer periods of time. My almost 3 year old is really into cars though and will happily play with them for a good 10 minutes at a time. But other wise I would be thinking of creative/crafty play, or problem solving like puzzles. It really keeps them busy.

ETA - I know you said he has a lot of outdoor toys but if he doesn't have a micro scooter, that would also be a great present especially if you want something more "special" than a bunch of books

ETA (again) lol - just saw he already has a scooter!
Another idea (not sure how much you want to spend) is a tablet like a mini iPad and load it up with educational fun apps? My friend was telling me that her daughter started programming at 2 by playing these kind of apps and it holds her attention for long periods of time.
It's not for us, as i think they will get enough tablet time at school, but something to consider maybe
