Default First IVF transfer - looking for advice

    Hi all,

Some background. A week ago I had my first embryo transfer. It's been a long journey but we've had some positives - we had 19 top quality embryos frozen (due to hyperstimulation I had to wait two months before transfer so had to be frozen). My first embryo thawed to 100% quality and re-inflated so was of excellent quality.

I had transfer 5 day post ovulation. What's upset/scared me is on my 7th day post transfer I had a small amount of bright red blood. I'm talking small amount. Not enough to me implantation bleeding, not the right colour and I think the wrong time too.

My Genea nurse said it could be signs of my period coming or the endometrium pessaries which can cause bleeding. This happened on Friday and I am still two days away from my pregnancy blood test. I am a mess and my gut is telling me I am not pregnant.

Has anyone experienced any bleeding they believe was from the edometrium pessaries?
How many transfer did it take you for success?

My doctor says due to my age and the quality of embryos we should have a 62% chance of falling pregnant with each transfer. It's just very hard to email positive after so long.

This is the worst journey ever and just looking for someone who can relate.

    Thank you!

Not sure who your specialist is, I notice your from ACT. I went through Genea and have been pregnant twice. From my first stim cycle I got only two 5 day, transferred one fell pregnant then lost baby at 9 weeks then transferred frozen but didn't take. Had second stim cycle and were able to transfer one and freeze 6. This is the cycle I got my daughter. In October we transferred a frozen which didn't take then I went straight into the next cycle with a frozen and fell pregnant. I have bub next week.

It could be the pessaries but unfortunately it could be your period coming. If it is your period, it could be that there is something wrong with the embryo and it's probably best it doesn't take this time (I was absolutely devastated when I lost my baby, I felt worse mentally and physically then when I did when an embryo didn't take).

I know how hard it can be to go through this journey and feel like your not getting anywhere but it can take up to 3 cycles for it to work. Just remember that your body has to learn what to do!

Not sure of your age but to get 19 top quality embryos is pretty good!!!

I really hope you get the baby you desperately want xo

Congratulations on your 19 embies and all good quality. Amazing! Sorry to hear you've had a small amount of bleeding. Does sound a little late for implantation bleeding, but anything is possible so I wouldn't rule it out. on a positive note bleeding can be completely normal in early pregnancy. My sister had a full period and her Bub is 6 months old. Are you planning to poas before your blood test?
Last month I had my first IVF cycle, unfortunately resulted in a bfn. We've just had a FET yesterday with our last embryo.
My FS said no matter the quality of the embryos (mine were both great) it can take a few transfers before your body will accept it.
    Good luck. x

Thanks for replying @Mona424. Congrats on your pregnancy. 1 week to go - awesome!

I'm also going through Genea in the ACT. My doctor and all the other doctors were so happy with the embryo count and quality and I guess I've got to remember that and also that it can take more than 1 attempt.

A friend has told me they can give you drugs to help transfer too. I don't care how it happens anymore as long as I get my baby.

I'll wait to see what happens on Tuesday and go from there. Will call my doctor if needed for some more advice and I'm booked in to speak to the psychologist too. I need management techniques.

    All the best next week!

Thanks for taking the time to reply @hopefull29. Yes the 19 was really good news and the doctors were so happy, they'd never seen it before so I'm trying to remind myself of the positive things that have occurred to date.

Had to google what POAS meant lol but no I won't. The disappointment scares me too much so I prob won't. And Tues is my period due date so POAS may not be accurate.

Had to do some reading to understand. But I'm sorry you had a BFN.

Interesting to know this - it can take a few transfers before your body will accept it. Geneas website does say their success is usually within 3 attempts. My FS said because of my age and quality of embryo we have a 62% chance. I hope that's truly the case.

A couple more days and I'll know soon enough.

I'm not sure what FET means but it sounds positive. I'll cross all my fingers and toes for you.

Hey Hun. It could be implantation. I had the smallest amount and a few days later a bfp. Hope it is the same for you xo

If you're really wondering get some FRER and test.

I had to lol at the 62% - seems so random. My FS told me 50/50 - it either works or it doesn't.

    Good luck!

@MaybeBabyIVF thanks for your supportive message, that is what is needed now. It was truly a tiny amount but more red, than pink/brown. Congrats on your positive result!

@lileitak it's a pity you had to "lol", doesnt make me feel good . My doctor said because of my age and the quality of the embryos my chances increase.

He said 40% chance with IVF. 50% chance with ICSI (I guess as the pick the best sperm) and with our age and embryo quality 62%. Yes does seem an odd percentage but hey, you gotta believe what your specialist tells you😊 I'm only sharing what I was told. Others might have heard similar things or other things, it's all worth sharing to help each other I think.

Good luck with your journey too! Hoping everyone gets their happy ending.
