Default Possible to waive 9 month cooling off period with a known family member donating?

    Hi everyone,

I have heard that you have a family member that has said they will donate eggs for you, you may be able to have the 9 month cooling off period waived - has anyone ever experienced this please?

    Thank you

I've never experienced a waiting period. Just counselling. I donated to my sister.

You're an amazing person for doing that!
My sister has very generously offered to the same for us, but the clinic we used for our ivf will not waive the 9 month cooling off The websites for the other clinics in WA also say that for known donors there is the 30 + 180 day cooling off.

WA is the toughest on cooling off times. Have you considered travelling? Most appointments can be done via Skype and all scans and bloods can be done locally so the travel is minimal. I'm a donor and have found Genea Kent St. Sydney or Monash Melbourne to be pretty efficient.

Thanks Spotsmum - we are looking at that - my sister is in SA, so am trying to find out more about their rules there. Will definitely keep Monash Melbourne in mind though x

SA is the second most difficult unfortunately! But you will figure out what works for you. Best of luck x search for the egg donation Australia facebook page if you need more info
