    Default Private Health Cover

    Hi

DP and I have been wanting to change our hospital cover from AHM (leave our extras cover with them).

Well it now seems that DD12 may need a small operation due to a recent injury.

I talked to BUPA today and he didn't think there was any issue swapping our hospital and getting cover for the operation.

Has anyone done this close to having an operation before??

Does anyone have any recommendations on either hospital cover where you have had an operation?

    Thank you

Years ago I swapped from NIB to HCF. A week or so later I was in hospital having unexpected emergency surgery.

Cue fight between the insurance companies - NIB were supposed to send HCF something about how long I had been a member and proof I has served waiting periods. For some reason they delayed sending it and had not when I was admitted to hospital. HCF were saying I hadn't served my waiting periods. NIB were for reasons unknown refusing to send the statement. It ended up okay in the end, but had me wishing I had turned up a public hospital at the time (went to the private because I thought I would be seen faster and was in a lot of pain).

It should be okay, just make sure that AHM send bupa everything they are supposed to before the op.

    Thank you!

The BUPA guy said I could pay monthly until we got the refund from AHM (we usually pay annually). I will call again tomorrow and see how quick we can get the paperwork sent over.
