I would say the difference is that a documentary is more fact-based and informative, whereas a reality show is lighter viewing and often loosely scripted to make it more entertaining.

I've watched Tattoo Tales before and have enjoyed it.

I urge you if you haven't seen this to NOT google what it's about but to just watch it. It's available on YouTube and is without a doubt the most moving documentary I've ever watched.
I just watched it from start to finish. I hadn't heard of it before, and I followed your advice and didn't google first.

So moving, the raw passion and emotion from the father. OMG, I think it will stay with me forever.

    Great thread!

I also love Louis Therox, Ross Kemp and David Attenborough. We watch the David A ones with our DD and she really likes them too.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've got some new stuff to watch

I just watched The Fear of 13 on Netflix and really enjoyed it.

For those who like dark/scary/unsettling type docos, here's a list of a few that are supposed to be worth a watch:

I watched Twinsters last night while DH watched footy. What a sweet story! A great feel good documentary if you need one.

Just watched the virgin daughters on abc catch up. So creepy!!!! Especially the bit where 7 kids lined up in a row for their dads weekly blessing while gazing adoringly at him!
