I find the bigamy argument interesting. I actually know muslim women who identify as "cowives". NONE of them are legally married, only culturally. None of the ones i know are recieving welfare payments. A condition of having multiple wives in Islam is the ability and means to provide for them all.
I imagine those recieving centrelink are a minority and don't stand out to me more than anyone else claiming payments they shouldn't. People just like to jump on it cos they're muslim.
Just wanted to shed some light on that one

Does anyone know why the papers are talking about the loophole where people like Hinch and Hanson may only serve a 'half term' of three years? We don't have to wait 6 years until the next election do we?

As far as I know, half the senate is up for re-election at each election. But this time the whole senate was up (due to double dissolution). It will revert back to normal, so half the senate will go up next time, possibly even though they wouldn't have served 6 years?
