Default What do I do next?!

    Hi all
We have a nearly 3 year old DD. Both hubby and I are 29 and in good health. We have been TTC #2 for 1.5 years now with no luck. We've had a range of tests and everything has always come up 100% perfect. I had laparoscopic surgery last week to check my tubes and apparently everything is wonderful in there as well. This puts us firmly in unexplained infertility at the moment. The specialist I saw before my surgery said that we could go on to clomid for a few cycles if they didn't find anything just to hyper stimulate my ovulation (I am already ovulating each cycle around day 15 and AF shows up 14 days after ovulation). My problem is that I have been referred to see someone at a totally different hospital for my outpatients appointment. I'm worried that they won't be open to the clomid idea and that is all I'm clinging on to at this point. I just want someone to do SOMETHING that could help us. We can't afford IVF (single income family with a mortgage) and I haven't seen great success rates for IUI for the cost. I'm really stuck at what to do next because I'm just devastated that we might not get the family we want.
Have you had successful IUI for unexplained infertility? Have you had successful just clomid cycles for unexplained?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

    Hi Hun,

I had no luck with IUI as you know. Are there any bulk billing IVF clinics down there? I'm sure there would be, they're popping up everywhere. It's approx $500 out of pocket for a cycle with a bulk billing clinic.

That's what I would look into in your situation. IUI certain works for some but the odds aren't that much better than a natural conception so I would consider cutting out the middle man if you can find a BB clinic, and put a healthy little embryo right back where it belongs xx

    Hey
I haven't really looked in to it to be honest. If it's only $500 we could probably stretch to it but I'd be constantly worried about hidden costs etc :-/

Clomid isn't that great and if it does work there's a high chance of twins.... Ivf if ur serious and are fund limited, go for best chance once rather than mucking with inferior options.... Clomid ain't cheap anyway...

The twins thing doesn't bother me but I don't want to be wasting my money on something that isn't going to work. I've had enough disappointments to be adding to them voluntarily! Hubby has said we could stretch to $800 or so for IVF so I've contacted the bulk billing one here. If it's more than that then I guess that means we're out :-(

Hi Op, unexplained is so rough. My DH and I had just under 2 yrs ttc no#1 - late 20s also, healthy, etc. I made an Ivf appt and was thrilled to cancel it on the day, bfp! I also had a tube check and I really think that helped. Best of luck with your journey xxoo
