    Default Smart casual?

We have a function to go to (a milestone celebration for a sporting club that DH is the current president of) and the dress code is smart function.
What should he wear? I'm thinking jeans are too casual?
    Help!

Agree on the jeans being too casual. A nice pair of chinos or similar. A button up shirt and leather shoes. Does he have a blazer or sports coat of some sort of the weather is cool where you are?

I'd go high heels, dark slim jeans, blouse + jacket, scarf and some nice earrings.

    Bahahahah!!!!! Love it!
Poor DH - he's not really into clothes - he's a farmer and lives in work clothes or jeans and a t-shirt and he has a suit for special occasions but very little in the middle!
I think we need to go shopping!

I was thinking something like these pants

Smart casual for a male would be a smart collared shirt, chinos, belt, and sport jacket on top ( if you have one). No tie. Shoes same colour as belt

If he's comfy in jeans, it can be done right.
(I know this pic is a bit douchey, but you get the idea)
A nice blazer/suit jacket or knitted sweater would work with this, too.

I like this look, with tan leather shoes to match the belt.
