So she put herself in the situation where she knew what could happen but did it anyway.

So yes I can feel empathy and compassion for the sad, a friend or family (no matter whether it was a result of their own actions or not) yes, a homeless person, yes, a victim of crime yes! But a person who goes on national TV to find love knowing this could have happened, no sorry.
I'm no softie either but I felt for her.
There's limits on my sympathies though, if they drag this on forever I'd have to rethink what Nikki is all about but anything I have heard today she sounds great.
She even said she hoped when the shock wore off the viewers that people would accept their relationship.
    Would Alex do that? Nope.
Sure she made up lies about Rachel telling her to go home because she has a child and Nikki had it in the bag?

Things like what I pulled out of that blog piece was highlighting why I feel so strongly about it. I actually cannot believe people (IRL) watch that show hoping to see a magical romance and a special relationship and awwww that's so beautiful!!! I just seriously don't get it. I thought we all loved to hate it!? No?

    I can't even watch her.
I've gone out of my way to avoid them.
Nikki is on the project next.

I actually think the backlash is pretty revolting.

At the end of the day it's a terrible reality show, the people who go on it know exactly what they're in for, and it's edited to within an inch of its life.

Do I like Alex? Not really. But I'm not the one who has chosen to date her.

As for the whole not meeting the kid, I personally wouldn't have put my kid in the spotlight if I was on that kind of show so I get why Alex didn't want him shown on hometown visits etc.

The aftermath of these shows baffles me every year, I can't believe people actually get emotionally invested in it - I'm in it for the laughs!

Yeah absolutely! I'm glad for her and her son that he hasn't been swept up in the bachelor whirlwind. And of course it's hard for kids to keep a secret but you have to admit, he has only seen a glimpse of life with her, and that doesn't include having a child in the picture. He admitted he doesn't know the first thing about kids, so he may not really have considered what it would be like.

I heard them in a radio interview this morning and it does sound like they had a lot of special & deep moments together in their special white rose love nest which was purposely edited out so that it wasn't so obvious he would choose her. He knew it was going to be her after their 2nd kiss.. So I do believe he genuinely fell in love with her but falling in love with a woman who has a kid that you've spent zero time with, it's like seeing the world through rose coloured glasses.

When Sam wood chose Snez, he knew from the moment they met that she was the one, so of course he wanted to meet her daughter but also, he works with kids and knows what they are like. Also her daughter wasn't 5...

Anyway, I've said enough. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the season and reading the recaps and seeing everyone's thoughts about it here!

Hands up if you're excited about bachelorette! 🏼🏼🏼

Oh it'll be a rude shock for sure! But not necessarily the end of their relationship. My mum didn't introduce my stepdad to me until a few months into their relationship.
Whereas I have friends (and my SIL) who introduce new partners all the time. Not something I think I would do but I guess there's two camps: show them the reality immediately and see how they respond to it, or wait and see that your feelings are strong enough that you're prepared to get little hearts involved too.

Kids are hard work but hopefully he really has thought about it, and is willing to put in the effort required! Sam and Snez are lovely but even then I remember so much backlash about him choosing her because she had a kid. And now they're engaged and living together in Melbourne.

Richie's problem was that he didn't really have the personality to be the Bachelor. He was too boring and did/said the same stuff to everyone. Other Bachie's have been the same but not to that extent. By the end it was just like watching snippets of previous episodes with the blah he came out with!

I'm excited for the Bachelorette. Glad for fresh meat, was getting a bit sick of recycling old contestants!!!

Yeah, well I wish them well.
I really would have liked to be in on the big secret though.
The backlash they're getting is because of the way it was edited.
I don't like Alex personally but as a couple I really don't care.
I wont lose Sleep over them.

Really think they should tailor this show to the Aussie audience, they could easily fast track some of the women out and let us in more on what going on in the house between the girls, more real stuff not polished and rehearsed.
Also, if he fell in love with Alex early on, omg, let us know.
Who needs to be surprised? I don't.
I'd much rather they were genuine, we would have probably liked them better as a result.

    The bachelorette seems pretty cool.

She must have fallen over on her entrance, I just hope she was taped into her dress, imagine.

Thinking back though im only surprised he picked Alex because of the kid he never met and the age gap, but it was pretty obvious he had chemistry with Alex since the photo shoot when they were near the car. Then of course she had the white rose, the date with the band and new clothes and dancing, then the horrid chocolate bath! I actually can only remember his first date with nikki. And also notice how he NEVER made Alex participate in the stupid dress up physical challenges!?

I'm not sure editing was 100% to blame, I think people just liked Nikki better as she's sweet and lovely and mature, Alex was just very young and immature and a bit obsessed cray cray like Rosie used to say.
