I'm sorry @pingc383 that phone call is the worst. And the disappointment is hard when you feel like you've tried everything this round.
Hoping you can get onto a FET soon xx
Thanks @hopefull29 hun. The last they put it were the better quality of all of them, so now wondering whether I should do a fresh cycle since I'm getting older or go with a FET and get all of the 4 frozen ones transferred. This will be my first FET. I'm not sure what the process is. When I ask the nurses tell me to call back on day 1 of period. Do you know how they determine if it will be a medicated or unmedicated one? I have always ovulated, but my cycles are usually 25 days apart and I always ovulated on day 10. Maybe they will medicate me because I ovulate early. The one thing I do not notice when I'm ttc naturally is the cervical mucous during the fertile window. I suspect that to be my problem... I don't think the sperm have any protection without it in my system..
My FS said because I ovulate on my own (my problem is blocked tubes) we could do a natural FET. I ovulated after my stim cycle on day 22 which was a little later for me but they were OK with that as apparently after a stim cycle it can slow your body down. I started off doing opk at home, then blood tests every second day until they detected my surge the FET 5 days later then started on crinone gel.
Personally I think if you can do it an unmedicated cycle is better for your body as it's more natural but just go with what the specialists tell you as they're the experts and it's what you pay the big bucks for. Some say medicated are better because they time the exact time of ovulation.
Will they put all 4 in for you? Hoping you get some answers soon x
Thanks so much @hopefull29. This is great, because I will be armed with questions. It's interesting you say that the body slows down. After my last failed cycle, it took a week to get my period (had a chemical) and I noticed i ovulated on day 15 and I always ovulate earlier than that! I definitely noticed my body slowing down, which was great because before I started, my body was firing off an egg faster each month!!! Sometimes I would get a period every 23 days.. I needed something to slow it down!! I will try and request a natural one, only because I know I always ovulate. I'll see what they say. I get the impression they like to medicate, but I'll discuss it with them. I'm really starting to hate pregnyl.. I wish they'd give me something else for a change.
Hoping Dr Wazza has a cancellation soon so I can see him for advice.
@pingc383 - So sorry to read that you are out this cycle hun it has definitely been a roller coaster of a ride for you this cycle. Hoping you take time for yoyrself and manage to get through today. I really wouldn't take too much consideration into the grading of your embies, according to wazza we seem to make chromosomally crappy eggs and the high graded embies may be the ones with the most severe issues as generally they look good but its an underlying issue. How many cycles have you done at this point? If you have done a few maybe consider testing the embies if you have only donena few maybe you gave just been unlucky so far. I wouldn't start testing too early on as its an expensive process. Hope af turns up quickly so you can move forwards xx
Thanks @Heyside hun. This failed cycle is my second one. First cycle, only 2 eggs retrieved and got a chemical. None suitable to freeze. So this cycle we added growth hormone, higher dose of Gonal f (450), luveris, PICSI and Embryogen. I feel like I got a better result in the first cycle without any of these things.
My DH has DNA damage, but our FS says that's fixable with supplements. He's been on supplements now for 6 months.. The only other thing I guess we could do is sperm to aspiration, but not sure if that's something my FS will agree to, cos his DNA damage is 15%. My FS does not do PGD. Is testing the embies different to PGD? I'll ask my FS if they can do this. Do you mean the embies that were frozen?
@PING383 sorry to hear hun. I thought if you ovulated early that could be an issue as the eggs wouldn't be mature and the lining wouldn't be thick enough? Maybe you would need a medicated FET cycle. Its just so hard re failed cycles and having no answers. I went through a similar thing to you where we had a good number off follicles retrieved 13-16 but only 2 and 1 left to transfer... We have tested everything and all the doctors can say is that it is unexplained which sucks but I have learned to deal with it and just go with the flow now.
I finally got my period so I can start jabbing soon yay.
@pingc383 - Two failed cycles isnt too many (all though I am sure its 2 too many for you and you want that bfp asap) maybe a little early to move onto the expense on testing. Yes when I said testing I meant PGD, I did test some of my frozen embies in the past and it is possible but does put them under extra stress due to needing to be thawed and refrozen.
@nattie84 - Great news on af, bring on the injections x
@pingc383 in 2013 I had one cycle of ICSI PGD getting two eggs tested ok out of 18. One was transferred for a natural fresh cycle and failed. Second one a FET and failed. I then went for another ICSI PGD 20 eggs collected 3 tested ok. I then suffered OHSS so had to cancel my natural fresh cycle and do a FET. This was successful.
I then have used one egg 2016 with a FET failed and am currently 2ww with last egg FET.
Up to you if you go again but it worked for me.
