Default Middle Name - Is it weird if we do this?

Wondering others opinions please, I lost my sister 18months ago and am pregnant with a little boy currently.
I have this idea in my head that id like his middle name to be Beau, after my sisters dog.
I know it might sound crazy because he's a dog and all but she absolutely loved him, he has been part of our family for 10 years, is the sweetest dog and been around my DD & 2 nephews their whole lives.
Only our family & close friends will likely make the connection so do you think it's ok to do this? Or crazy because he's a dog?

I don't see why you need to justify using a name. If it means something to you personally, does it matter what others think?

Beau is a lovely name too.

If that's how you want to honour your sister then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! It's not like the dog is called something really obviously a dog name like bundy or diesel or spot. Beau is a lovely name and as you said not many will make the connection - and I'm sure those who do will understand why you've used it.

Personally I would never name a child after a dog! I think it's weird.

I would use it. I think it's lovely that you want to honour your sister and using the name of a creature dear to her heart. It doesn't matter that it's a dog and like you said, it will be a connection only those close to you would make. For everyone else you have chosen the name Beau for your sons middle name which is a perfectly normal and lovely name!

Then I'm definitely weird...we had an Old English Sheepdog called Oscar. We loved the name so much we used it on our son.

To do it because you love the name is understandable. To do it to honour the dog, IMO, is weird.
