Default Type G car seat in 3rd row? Help!

My DS is almost 4. I want to get him a type g car seat as I like the extended harnessing. We have a 7 seater and I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use a type G seat in the 3rd row where there is no anchor point? I know that if I bought a regular booster seat he could go in it in there but I don't want to put him in there with just a seatbelt. It would be a very occasional thing that he would be in the 3rd row at all. TIA

All harnessed seats need anchor points. The only boosters that don't require an anchor point are those that weigh under 2kg. Once he's 4, you're correct he can go into a booster but he is so much safer in a harnessed seat.

I thought as much. Thanks for the replies. I'm really not comfortable with him being in a booster with a seatbelt so I guess my hubby will be squeezing into the back when my inlaws are visiting in a couple of weeks!

My brother in law always ends up in the third row. He's over 6ft and its squishy but it's not a bad spot to be as you can pretty much ignore every one in the car
