When u go for a second opinion you never tell them what another doctor said as you will just get the same answer. Dont want any of you to just agree with me. Anyway

I don't think your having a phantom pregnancy but I do think you know there is something not right but your mind has convinced you your pregnant because maybe your not ready to deal with other possibilities if that makes sense? Either way I would go to a gyno and get a full work up done

Ok for starters i am not crazy and do not appreciate people telling me i am. I would not wish to be pregnant and i have only discussed this with my 17 year old who was the first to ask me if i was pregnant. I think its weird and strange that people come on here to talk about things and the first thing they get told is they are crazy, well i guess in a way i am for thinking that talking to women about being told there is no way some one at the age of 39 can be pregnant which is what that doctor said was crazy.
There is scientific proof that babies have been missed both through blood tests and urine and one lady had twins missed in an ultrasound twins due to being over weight and scars and things on her uterus was not a cryptic pregnancy just normal but missed anything is possible in this day and age.
    Thabks for your help.

I haven't seen the word crazy if I'm mistaken. A lot of us including myself have said you need to see a GYNO/OB to sort this out not a regular GP who does not specialise in these areas at all but not once have you done that in the past 5 months. I'm sorry to say but if you don't like the opinions of what some people say then you shouldn't of started another thread as I've read the one from last month also. If you don't see the required specialist it will in turn drive you crazy. As for the internal ultrasound not showing anything that is hard to believe. If an internal can show follicles growing with IVF treatments after a week they can pick up a baby that has been growing for months

I was reluctant to post on here but...

OP yes I'll validate what you are saying, the dr was crazy for saying you couldn't be pregnant because of your age. That's absurd and insensitive of him to say.

As for what you are experiencing, do you want advice, guidance, or help? If not then everyone is wasting their breath in that regard and this thread should simply be kept to discussing what an idiot your doctor was for saying you can't be pregnant at 39.

If you do want some help with what you are experiencing then I think you should go to the hospital and let them do further testing. Surely if you are this convinced that there is a baby in there someone will find some sort of way to know for sure. If you don't want further testing then you will need to just wait it out which I think is quite negligent on your part.

I'm sorry but I think you need to be persistent until you can get an answer. If you are getting double lines on a pregnancy test it means there is hcg in your system which WILL come up on a blood test. If you say you can be pregnant without hcg then okay, but why the positive test? It doesn't seem to add up which is again another reason to go and see a specialist. Your local GP doesn't cut it at this point.

I hope you get some real answers so that you know what's going on in there.

Oh and also, there are a lot of people who have taken the time to reply and have asked questions, for example if you have a picture of this positive pregnancy test and you have failed to answer. It might be a good idea to take the time to read some peoples replies and respond to what people have said so that others can at least know what else to help you with.

Right now it sounds like you have resigned to believing you are pregnant, the doctors are wrong and so I'm not sure if there's much more anyone can say.

I am sorry if you thought I implied you are crazy I don't think your crazy it's just the human brain can do amazing things to stop people from hurting and dealing with bad situations. Last year when my Dad died my niece developed narcolepsy, anytime she started to get upset she would just fall asleep. I think out of all possibilities of what is causing your symptoms a pregnancy is the less scary so that could be why your brain has thrown out those signals. And yes I agree there has been pregnancies that show negative test results in both blood and urine (my best friend had negative bloods right up until 7 months) but there is no way a ultra sound would miss a 5 month foetus especially given they pick up 5 week ones and heartbeats

I don't agree with this at all - I have been for many second opinions and I lay it all out on the table - how are they going to give me a proper opinion if I only give them what I think is relevant - I'm not a trained medical person but I am my own best advocate so I tell them everything including that I'm there to get a second opinion.

Do you have scars? Are you overweight? Things on your uterus?

I think people here have been extremely polite and patient and respectful with you.

Perhaps you will fare better visiting the hospital as opposed to asking us forum folk. After all, we aren't being very helpful suggesting that a pregnancy without an actual pregnancy within the uterus (proven by your bloods and scans) suggests a non pregnancy.... but hey, what do we know?

I don't think anyone has said you're crazy.

What they're saying is that you've put 2 and 2 together and you've gotten 5 and people are saying hey - you might need to recalculate because I'm getting 4.
