Default Where to live in Sydney with 2 under 2

Yay! Finally worked out how to start a thread.

As the title suggests, we may be required to move to Sydney for about 6 months for my dh's work. I have zero insight into Sydney and would much appreciate suggestions on family friendly safe suburbs close-ish to the city.

    Thank you!

What is your rental budget? Do you want to live in a house or apartment?

Not sure yet, seems pretty expensive compared to Perth. Anywhere between $400 - $700 per week. House would be good and an apartment is fine short term. Just need an idea on areas

You may want to look at areas like Rozelle, Balmain, Lilyfield (inner west). Pretty close to the city but not right in the thick of it. My friend lived in that area for quite a few years and loved it. Seems popular with families too.

The Sutherland Shire is a very family orientated area, 45-50 mins by train to the city. Rent would be around $590 - $700 for a 3 bed town house.

I agree with the inner west suggestion if it doesn't fall outside your budget. Annandale, Leichhardt, Balmain etc are all great and easy access to the city. If you what to be a bit further out in the suburbs, you could go somewhere like Baulkham Hills which is right on the M2 for express buses into the city.

Something like this terrace house in Annandale might work although is a little over budget

Inner west is awesome. Stanmore, Petersham, Balmain. Cant go wrong although it is expensive. But it is easy to get to and from city. Anything directly north of the city is nice. East is nice, very expensive. South of the city, brighton le sands and around penshurst, mortdale, oatley are nice and all of sutherland shire, although this is 1hr to the city. These are areas i have lived in so can't speak for other spots. Also a unit right in the cbd could be good.
