Quick question ladies - anyone feeling very bloated?

I have been having a lot of gas in the tummy for the last few days and am wondering whether i should be concerned and go see my OB - I think I look bloated enough for 5 months!

Going to go chew on a couple of Simethicone tablets and see if it eases it up.

It's apparently very common in first trimester @ABG79 - I had that too.

Am just wondering whether it is normal for it to continue into the second trimester, but I think with all the works in the tummy area, things are a bit out of whack.

It's been so uneventful ladies and a short weekend for me because I had classes yesterday. ARGH.

Hoping to look for some entertainment on here - how are you ladies going? Any new news / stories / rants / anything at all?

I'm starting to show a little on most days, some days I look like I am 5 months because of bloating. Am thinking of buying some serious maternity wear now. My T shirts are starting to look too short.

Hi ladies, got my swab results back, was definitely thrush but they also found group b strep growth! I am freaking out a bit, apparently is quite common but my GP wants me to have an OB consult just to check out if anything specific needs to be done. I know IV antibiotics will most likely be needed at birth but I worry about what effect it may have on our little bean given that we are only 8+4 so have sent my referral off and am waiting for a call to make the appt. I've started on penicillin in the interim. I'm sure everything will end up fine but such a daunting thing to find out! Will keep you posted!

Oh I forgot to mention my HCG levels are at 95,200! Happy with that, according to the reference range on my test at this stage it should be between 15,000-200,000 so we are pretty much in the middle

    OH, @onedaymaybebaby,

That sounds awful. Does it hurt when you pee? I hope you get to see the OB for some clarity and reassurances soon. You just reminded me, my OB took a sample of my urine for lab test 2 weeks ago and hasn't called with results. Better call them tomorrow to check on it. I had cramps and went to see him, he reckons it's growing pains / stretching uterus but thought had better check with UTI and the likes to be sure.

Yay to the high HCG, looking good! Are you having another scan soon?

Can't wait for mine in 2 weeks.

Thanks @VickyP, no pain peeing as it's not a uti, it was discovered from the vaginal swab when checking if it was definitely thrush. So apparently most women have GBS but because I've had the thrush (most likely from the crinone), the naturally occurring GBS has become imbalanced and is now there in much higher numbers. Apparently it can come and go but now that I have tested positive for it I will need IV antibiotics at birth to prevent passing it onto bubs which can have serious complications if not recognised/treated. I rang Primary yesterday and got to speak with my FS and she reassured me there is no concern at this stage and my GP has done the right thing putting me on Penicillin. The downside to that is I will most likely get thrush again waaaaaah . Still haven't heard back from OB, I know they're busy but I just want it booked....lol impatient much?! Unless the OB orders anything different my next scan will be in just over 3 weeks for the 12 week scan!

Hopefully no news is good news for you re the urine test! That's awesome you get another scan, how far along will you be?

    Hey @onedaymaybebaby,

I just rang the OB clinic up and am now waiting for the OB/midwife to call me. Fingers crossed.

Is there anyway to prevent the GBS or thrush? I was wondering about cranberry supplements after my OB decided on the urine test.

I think you can try calling up the OB office. They seem pretty slow with following up because they are usually so swarmed with ladies in there with regular checks or ad-hoc concerns. I would try to call them up and see where they are with the referrals. I have realised that I need to take a lot of initiative with the docs and OBs.

My next scan is around 16w. It would be 15w5d exactly so I can't wait to see how things have progressed.

So my OB called - urine test came back all clear. Phew!
@onedaymaybebaby, did you get any luck with the OB yet?
