Hi all, I have another question if that's ok!
I've seen you all talk about follicle size before so your opinions would be much appreciated
I went for an ultrasound today (Drs request ) to check on my PCOS and checkout possible endometriosis before I see the fertility specialists.
They could only see my right ovary today so have to go back again tomorrow but the technician counted 18 follicles in my right ovary (so definitely Polycystic) but she seemed to be impressed and asked if I had taken clomid this month. I'm CD9 and had 1 X 14mm follicle and about 4 that were 12-13mm. I seem to ovulate around day 17-18. Endo thickness 3.82

A mature follie is usually above 18mm and anywhere up to about 22mm before it releases an egg (if there is one in there). Without medication a follicle generally grows 1mm every 24-48 hours depending on the person.

Most FS like lining to be above 8mm (well that's what I had been told) for transfer but really it can go well above that. From memory my last scans always showed a lining of 11mm+

Your results show that it's coming along nicely and that will only improve when you are on meds and they are controlling your cycle! Good luck with it! 😊

    Lots of follies there!

Will you be trying IUI or straight to IVF? Do they let you do iui with pcos? Sorry, more questions for you than answers

We used to get excited seeing 4 or so on each!

    Thanks!

I went back today for another scan and they could find my left ovary today and interestingly enough it doesn't appear to be polysistic and had 8 follicles.

I had a little laugh to myself that I got so excited about my scans and even made DP sit down and look at all the pictures on the CD. I can't imagine how excited I'll be when it's a baby! Lol

Not sure what we will do yet, we see two different fertility specialists in two weeks so hopefully I'll get some direction as to what will be best for us.

We decided to make appointments at IVF Australia and Fertility First at Hurstville as they are both fairly close. I've had mixed reviews for both and because it's such a big decision I thought I'd have initial appointments at both to see where I'm comfortable.
We probably won't start trying until next year but at the rate this year has flown past I'm sure next year will come around really quickly

Actually did any Sydney people go to Westmead fertility centre? I've even thought about looking into the new clinic "rainbow fertility " which is specifically for same sex families but both are a bit further away and we would need to find our own donor for Westmead

We used IVF Australia and saw Professor Illingworth who was absolutely amazing! Couldn't recommend him enough. He is the medical director and really knows what he is doing 😊 he works out of their Westmead clinic and somewhere else but can't remember where lol.

We also went with IVF Australia and am so happy we did. We fell pregnant first go with egg sharing. Of course everyone's fertility is individual, but I believe our FS's approach, the technology of the embryo labs and their processes definitely contributed to our BFP.
