Why was only the woman arrested if it states 'the parents'?

Maybe the father is still overseas.

Hope the kids are alright. Must a confusing situation for them..
I'm not defending the parents but I can't help but wonder WHY they were o/s? People can do irrational/negligent things when they feel they are in dire situations. Are we talking a quicky bahamas beach trip or a terrible family tragedy that might have blindsighted the parents and left them feeling they had no choice?
Again not defending, it was still a **** move, just wondering aloud.

There has to be something more to it. The story is just so vague. News people usually pounce on this sort of stuff but I can't find any more info other then the initial story details. I dunno just, something isn't sitting right with me about it. Not about what the parents did - no brainer there. Just the amount of information released. I just keep thinking back to the surrogate twins and the parents only taking the one without the problems. There was stories after stories but it's almost like radio silence? At least the kids are safe, that's the main thing.

I wonder if the father has been overseas for longer...and therefore the kids were in the mother's care?

Default Leaving kids home while traveling

I read that it was the step mother (de facto relationship) who was arrested. Apparently she was going to visit her partner, the childrens' father.

Yes - that's what I read on the local (Perth) news site.

    So many questions......

Why did she leave the country for only a few days? (Drug running is the first thing to pop into my mind)

Where is the father? Why is gone? How long have they been with the step mother?

    Where is the mother?

    Why was the door unlocked?

Who knew they were alone? Someone told the police.

Also I just wonder about what the kids actually did. Did they eat? Where did they sleep? Were they distressed?

My mind is going to be spinning all night just thinking about this...

There has to be more to this, no normal parent would just leave their children and go overseas, would they...?
