Default Well, that opened my eyes

Bubhub has opened my eyes to lots of things. I thought it was my turn!

I came across this article about a transgender dad breastfeeding his son. He's now a La Leche League (like Aust Breastfeeding Association) leader, giving advice about breastfeeding.

    http://breastfeedingtoday-llli.org/g...ansgender-dad/

For some reason, I can't copy and paste the text, sorry...

i know I should leave this alone but can't help myself. i really struggle to understand what makes a woman claim she is a man, but just happens to be a man who has given birth and breastfed a child. surely you'd have to admit you were a woman to celebrate being able to do these fundamentally female things.

She doesn't claim she is a man. He is a man - that is his gender identity and he doesn't have to qualify it.

Do you understand what transgender means (genuine question - it's not 'claiming to be' a man, it's feeling that that's what you are)? And did you read the article? He talks about why he wanted to do these things. I think for a lot of transgender people their gender identity falls somewhere on the spectrum between feeling completely male and completely female, and if you wanted to have children and still had all the working parts, then it would make sense to have them yourself.

i guess I just wonder what part of being male Trevor identifies with when he seems so accepting of his uniquely female characteristics.

    How about this.

Trevor is male. Trevor happened to be born with female 'parts' that work. Trevor decided as he has working female parts he wants to experience carrying and feeding his child.

That does not change the fact that Trevor is male.

As for the OP - wow! That is awesome.

What a great read. No excuse to not breastfeed for me this time.

fair enough. Trevor is an amazing gay man who has given birth to and breastfed his child... definitely not a heterosexual woman who likes presenting herself as a man. by the way, anyone seen the emperor's new clothes, they're fantastic.

Any reason at all is a good enough reason not to breastfeed in my book ☺ You have to do what's right for you. Don't let this man make you feel bad! ☺

I just thought it was a really interesting article, and not something I've come across before. I bet he feels really internally conflicted about it at times.

Maybe you should assess your attitude and ask yourself why you are being so hateful about something that has no effect on you whatsoever.
