    Default Boy names help

    Hi Gals,

My partner and I have agreed(ish) on 3 boys names and I was hoping for some feed back!

So, here are my top three with some notes, (my partners top three are in reverse order):-

1: Elliot:- I really like this as a boys name but not very grown up? Can't think of any nicknames I like!

2:- Alexander:- nn Alex but a bit too common/boring?

    3:- Isaac:- nn Zac

We have an awkward double barreled last name so nothing really goes with that anyway and we're not going to give the poor kid another name to deal with as we think three is enough, so no middle name. His brother is Cormac (nn Mac) so Zac and Mac might be a bit cheesy but I'm not too worried about their names sounding good together.

Oh and just to throw it out there my partner likes Tycho! I kinda like it too (Ty) but don't think I can go that unusual.....

Any opinions? Boys are so hard!

With your double-barrelled last names, what do they sound like?

For example Smith (1) Jones (1)?

    Smith (1) An-der-son (3)

    Dun-bar (2) Ash-ton (2)

Just trying to get a feel for the length of the name we're working with here

Lol OK, in that case I like the sound of Elliot Cuddly-Pong

Alexander, whilst lovely, sounds like too much of a mouthful, if that makes sense.

Isaac sounds a bit cut short.

The funny thing is, for some reason I already had it in my head you were going to call your bubba Elliot. How weird is that?!

(All your names are lovely by the way, and in the end it doesn't matter what I think - you should go with what the two of you like.)

ETA: If you were using Elliot you could call him Eli for short - as in, pronounced "E-lie." Cute, cute, cute!

Lol, soz. I'll climb out of your head now

I reckon if you introduce him as Eli to everyone you'd be right.

How exciting, not long to go now! Can't wait to hear the big announcement

Haven't read all the replies but I LOVE Elliot. Eli for short. DS was going to be Elliot. We had settled on it. Then we moved house. To Elliot Street. Elliot is top of our list.

Oh no! That's a bummer, boys name are so much harder than girls I think. Whenever I think of Elliot, I hear E.T's croaky voice...... "E-lli-ot" and his scraggy glowing finger

I love Elliot. It was one of my favourite contenders for both of our boys' names.

I've never seen E.T lol. We would have totally had it but DS would have been Elliot Last Name from Elliot Street on his birth certificate how lame lol it would always be 'mum and dad couldn't think of anything' lol.
I've not had to worry about girls names but we were pretty set on a girls name haha. Boys names took forever!
