Wow I feel so cheap haha. I think the only time I paid $200+ for my hair was for my wedding. I only go to a hairdresser maybe once every 12-18 months and just get the $30 cut.

This entirely depends on what you get done.
I was blonde. .. with foils and toner and cut and blow dry. .. anywhere between $200-300 for medium length hair. The foils were expensive. .so started scalp bleach. .about $50 less.
Changed to a tint. .. no foils. .but darker. .. and now about $120. If I add a treatment cos my hair is a bit fried from bleach.
In the last 2 years I've had choc brown hair. .balayage...foils. .blonde..really blonde (!!) And now a dark blonde/brown.
Current tint colour is cheapest by far!

Just want to add that my hair is blonde so I only get foils done at my roots.

I recently had a fairly dramatic style cut, colour which included foils, hand 'painting' and a couple different toners. From memory about $180. I was there for about 4-5 hours!

In between/maintenance much less $100-140 depending how long I leave it between visits.

About $140. I get a colour and the tiniest trim (I have dead straight hair just below my shoulders). If I have foils its around $170. If I get a treatment it's another $30 or so. I go every 6-7 weeks.

I've resorted to dying my own hair as I have pesky grey hairs that I need to cover (and I like to touch up every 6 weeks or so).

I think the last time I was quoted for a single colour was $120. To me that is expensive.
If I had a single colour I'd do it myself at home too. So much cheaper and the result is pretty good.

$105 for a cut and blow dry
$175 for hand painted colour highlights (all over, hair above shoulders).
So $280 for the full job. I get cut every 6-8 weeks and colour every 12 weeks. I am in Adelaide.
I used to get it done by a friend and it was $120 for cut blow dry and full head of foils. But that was done at home not in a salon. I'm happy to pay the extra for the quality I'm getting now.

Gosh, I am out of it, I have never seen the word balayage until this thread! I am going to have to google it.

I have blonde hair, which I dye myself whenever I need to- usually every 4 or 5 weeks I do the roots. I get a $30 haircut once in a while. I do splash out on good quality silver tinted shampoo (which takes out the brassy yellow) and also a 60 second power conditioner.
