@Twiglets How are you holding up Luv???
You'll be able to rip open your box of FRER's soon and get testing!!
Just popped on to see if there were any stick pics????
@Lastchance75 hope you are holding up okay,
AFM, DP won't engage in any conversation about what our next step will be except for wanting to see a new FS. No point really seeing another FS as we don't have another donor.
So I'm deciding what to do all on my own and if need be ill just go ahead on my own. I had a look in the EDA site, jeez how depressing it's like a competition on who has the saddest story and is most deserving of someone's eggs. Don't think I can compete with the " my husband is dying" or " cancer treatments made me infertile" stories and it is so unpredictable on how long you could wait. So just tossing up between Greece or South Africa. There is no wait time for either and the costs are cheaper upfront than here.
Have a nice Sunday everyone X
@MissDa we tried the donor egg locally & wasted a lot of time . I was corresponding with some one who volunteered to donate her egg she had frozen , & to donate more if needed -then discovered it was an embryo frozen she was offering .When we clarified with her we were after eggs , & didn't realise it was an embryo she was offering she must have taken offence & never replied to us again !! That was 4 months of emails , it drove my husband mad as he felt she was stringing us along & wasting our time by slow communication & then to be told it's an embryo & no eggs . It was my husbands decision to cut the BS & go o/s . We choose Greece as the clinician I'm dealing with knows my obs & FS so it feels like I have 3 people helping us . I'm scared of South Africa & felt more comfortable being in Europe although our FS spoke highly of SA to be perfectly honest .
The overseas decision was an easy one for us , we are in Greece now & it's less effort & stress than chasing a local donor . If you have a young friend who can donate that's fantastic , but all our friends who offered for us are over 40 darn it !
Good luck in your decision process .
Sorry to hear dp isn't being supportive @MissDa. Just another perspective on EDA I put up a fairly upbeat ad talking up DH and my creative traits and got a super amazing donor within 5-6 weeks and she's our perfect fit. She connected with us both on our interests/work so it can happen. In all honesty there are loads of people who have advertised with a similar upbeat vibe and found themselves donors, bongley was one of those. I get the o/s thing is somewhat easier in terms of choosing a donor but just wanted to let you know another side of the story. I guess a lot of it comes down to luck in the end. You could put an ad up anyway and see what came of it. There is another site also egg donor angels I think it is. Hope you are doing ok xx
Hi All, very new to all this! I have my second appointment with Dr Andy Stamatiou (Brisbane) tomorrow, after 4 rounds of bloods and a GTT. Being 43 I am hoping he has some good news for us and we can proceed with IVF! Has anyone else seen Dr Andy and had some good results? All I keep hearing about is how amazing Wazza is but his waiting list is way toooooo long!
I'm sorry your DP isn't being supportive or open to discussing the next step either Luv
I'm sure the Lovelies here that have gone to either of those countries or any of the Girls on both of those threads will be able to answer any questions you might have in regards to going down the DE path via either of those routes
Welcome to the thread Luv!!!
I can't say I've ever heard of Dr S but that doesn't mean he's not a good FS!!!
Which FC (fertility clinic) is he with???
Yes, Wazza's list is long, but that's because he specialises in older women and the difficult to treat cases I'm one of his graduates (after doing 3 Cycles with another FS I transferred over to Wazza)
You can always ask to go on the "cancellation list" as well as often you'll get in a lot quicker that way (sometimes with only a couple of days notice of an appointment) or you can see the other FS/OB that works with him Charlotte (can't remember her last name) as Wazza is mentoring her so she works pretty much alongside him is my understanding and consults with him etc as well as implementing his protocols etc so is another option there if you need a second opinion at any stage.
It sounds as though this will be your very first Cycle of IVF that you will be doing??
and prayers being sent to the Universe for you that you get your good news tomorrow so that you get started on your IVf Cycle asap!!!
Thank you so much for your well wishes. Dr Andy is with City Fertility group I think! It will be our first IVF experience. Needless to say I'm emotional, anxious and nervous! Wazza is in the same building so I am thinking if it doesn't go great tomorrow I can pop in on my way out and make an appt with Wazza. Would love any thoughts and advice about how to get my head around all of this! I just want to hear there is some kind of hope!
@MrsRodgerDodger its understandable to feel all of those feelings would love to say it gets easier but unfortunately it doesn't you are just more aware of what to expect. That sounds like a plan to get yourself on Wazzas list as a back up plan as BIB said he does have a good reputation with difficult cases that's why we see him. The only advice I would give you is to take each step as it comes and deal with every step at a time. Good luck hun and hope you get some answers tomorrow x
