@greenlady fingers crossed for a BFP for you!

Hello all the other lovely ladies. Thought I would pop back in to update that I am hopefully having my final OE FET next Friday. Following the last BFN with my TET I thought I would just jump straight in and transfer my little Lone Ranger asap so I can move on. It turns out my 3bb is actually a 4bb so that was some good news for once! I'm not holding out much hope as this will be transfer no. 7 and the 14th embryo but may be its lucky last! It was frozen nearly a year ago and the only blast as all other transfers were done on day 3 and the TET on day 4, so not sure if any of them would have made blasts.
However, my Plan b is also underway and I have been researching DE and I'm all set to head to Athens in Sep if this fails. I'm focusing on that instead of pinning all my hopes on this last throw of the dice!

Speaking of which my mate tested last night at 3AM and got a BFN she'd been crying the whole time by the time she texted me at 6. That was her only PGD normal in 6 cycles. I'd forgotten she does have one untested embryo left, so she's transferring that soon but she's been through so much heartache, its so unfair.

I have three cousins and two friends (in their 40s) who are childless not by choice. It's so f*cking unfair!

It is unfair. I'm very sorry for your friend

PGD is a funny thing. Even a PGD tested embryo is no guarantee of success. I think a lot of it just comes down to plain old luck TBH.

Mum had my sister at 45 naturally. The odds of that happening are just so small. But you never know.

There are plenty of egg recipients who have put in embies from donated eggs and had them fail. Even from young donors. Again, sadly I just think it comes down to luck if it will work or not. There is only so much we can control...

ETA: What happens if people try to get pregnant with PGD abnormal embies? I don't want this to sound bad so please excuse my clumsy wording, but are the embies which 'fail' the PGD test inconsistent with a viable pregnancy? Or do they only indicate a potential genetic abnormality - for example, something like Downs Syndrome, where the embryo could indeed result in a live birth?

Oh no Luv!!! Your poor friend!! That's frucking so sad and so frucking unfair!!!

I reckon you're right about the age difference r.e the PGD embryo's. Perhaps in some cases the embryo's just don't have enough energy to keep on going???
Granted, that could happen to any embryo no matter what age the egg from which it was conceived, but we know that mitochondria/mitochondrial DNA is affected in older eggs so maybe that has something to do with it too???

Anyhoo... and prayers being sent for the frostie in the freezer for your friendxoxox
