Default Newbie starting icsi cycle Anyone else starting soon?

    Hi everyone!
is there any other newbies starting out?
We have just had our appointment with the nurses and will be starting our first icsi cyle this week.
I have a fridge full of medications although im a little scared of the injections My partner will be helping with the injecting. We are now just waiting for my period.
Our doctor Warren Chan thinks we should be successful sooner rather then later so fingers crossed ❤️.
Anyone else starting out? It would be lovely to have some other women to chat to.
    good luck to all
    beck

Hi @Beckmilamoo. I'm in the process of starting my first ICSI cycle (single & donor sperm). I have found the injections are not too bad. Insert the needle slowly, & it feels just like a small pin prick. Can't change the sensation you get from the solution going in though. In saying that, I have had very little pain/discomfort from that. Sometimes it stings a little afterwards but that's about it. Probably helps that I have been nursing for way too long, but it's always a bit scary coming at yourself with a sharp implement!!

Good luck, baby dust all around!! 😁

    Hi GM9,
    lovely to meet you
it seems a bit of a daunting process but hopefully it is successful in the end!
I have friends who used donor sperm and have a gorgeous baby boy who has the bluest eyes I have ever seen.
How have you been with the hormones? Does your body feel much different ... Im worried ill be extra emotional
Good luck to you and keep me posted on how you are doing

Hi guys, I'm starting out on our first ICSI cycle this week, I had my first injection of Elonva yesterday. I've been feeling nervous about it all failing but I'm okay with the needles! It's possibly my nursing background that helps.
DH and I have an apparent miracle naturally conceived 5yo DD. 2 miscarriages prior to her, but no luck at all this time around.

I have my first appointment with the FS specialist tomorrow!

Feels like such a long time coming. I was originally booked with a different clinic and then changed to a bulk bill one. All my tests have already been done offsite in advance so I think I'll be starting my first cycle as soon as AF arrives! I'm irregular though so could still be a couple of weeks off.

    Hi jess and surfergirl
surfergirl it felt like forever with us to we started testing in October last year, then bought a house, got through Christmas and got back to focusing on our fertility journey!
jess our fs said the ivf option gives a 40/45% chance for us (im sure it differs for others) which seems quite good! Its got to be higher then nature so fingers crossed for all of us

I totally agree about the daunting part with a fridge full of meds! I actually realised I got my af on the drive to my appointment this morning so the fs got me a small stash of meds to get started on with my first needle in just two days!! Wasn't expecting that at all ha!

    What are the chances haha

I start my antagonist injection tomorrow, I'm on orgalutran. Apparently these hurt a bit more! The Elonva was nothing.

Oh awesome! I'm just a few days behind you and doing our first cycle with ICSI too! I start the orgalutran ones in a week. And yes, the nurse said they are a bit harder! I actually flinched when she demonstrated how to do it on a plastic cushion haha

Yay for a cycle buddy!! It's actually so comforting ha!
