Default how many friends does your 2 yr old BOY have?

As per the title... I ask because DS has one friend, I tried to introduce him to other boys his age and he's just not interested.
His 3rd bday is in a few months and Im not sure what to do... DD has lots of friends and she's had big parties and I could invite those kids over... but really I know all DS wants is to play with his buddy.
DH is under the impression I havent tried hard enough to get to meet other boys... and I feel terrible but when I think about it there's plenty of opportunities for him to play with other kids he just chooses not to.
SO my question is... is this common?
what would you do re a party?

My boy is all grown up but I have to say that when he was 2 he had no friends to speak of
His "friends" were the offspring of MY friends, so any party would have consisted of combined family, cousins, my friends and their kids

My DS turned 3 in march.

He has one friend who he talks about all the time and just recently we've started having play dates with another 3 boys but thats once in the last 2mths.

Oh and his 2nd & 3rd birthdays were both just family bbq's.

My little guy is 3 in August and doesn't really have any friends. He plays well with his big sister but will just do his own thing a lot if the time at a play date. My DD did the same thing at his age and now has heaps of little pals.

That doesn't sound like anything to worry about to me. I'm not an expert in toddler social development but look at different adults - some have lots of friends and others are more comfortable with just one or two close friends, and that's totally fine.

As for a party - I would do whatever he preferred. Instead of a traditional party, maybe an extra special play date with his best friend and family, like a zoo trip or something? (It also sounds a lot easier than having to deal with a whole pack of 3 year old boys...)

My DS had a best friend at that age. He had kids he played with and liked but otherwise it was 1 boy (they are like 2 peas in a pod. And so cheeky!).

He is 3 now and has more friends and people he calls friends.

    I'd say its normal.

DS had a big 3rd birthday party but he had a few friends from little kickers and 2 of my friends have boys the same age plus when you add in cousins and friends kids we ended up with about 20 kids, ( from ages 2-10) he didn't really start talking about seeing his friends for play dates as such until he was about 3.5-4

Thinking back my boys at that age both had a few friends. Ds3 is 21months and he has 2 friends at daycare he chats about and looks around for when I mention their names dropping him at daycare.

Ha yea I thought the same!
DS played with kids at daycare but I don't think he even knew the concept of friends at that age.
