    I think the children of BH parents are very very lucky. There are some pretty awful parents out there. Some of them do far worse than leave their child to cry until they vomit.

    I've been known to sit on the toilet for 20 minutes 'doing a crap' because it peace and quiet in which to play on my phone.

    There's no shame in not wanting to be glued 24/7 to your kids. Infact, I think a break every now (not 2 nights every week- that's a bit much ) and then is healthy.

    You sure you're not taking one plus one and getting 3? When reading your story I immediately got the impression something was up with your friend - just because she didn't come out to you and say "I've got PND" doesn't mean everything is fine.

    I think there has been some misinterpretation. The baby in question was FIVE days old..

    We all need a break. We all hide in toilets.

    Wow this thread is long but to answer the original question... I think there is a middle ground. We let A grizzle a bit but not overly so, because it stresses me out. Happy medium. We got results, not amazing results that we might have got if we had done full on CC but good enough that my sanity is restored. I don't think you have to be for or against sleep training, I think it works for some families/babies and not others. And you can do your own variation of it too.
