I hope this thread doesn't turn 'bad'. I would think that people who don't want to hear about people's experiences would not post. The thread isn't named ' what do you think about gender selection?'. Each and every day on bubhub, people choose which threads to post in, and bypass other threads for many reasons.

Maybe there should be a separate section for gender selection discussions? Some may find it a bit icky to have gender selection posts in a 'conception and fertility general chat' section. ?

I'm pretty sure there is a gender selection section?

Maybe the thread could be moved there then? So as to not cause any discomfort to those who have had difficulty conceiving and giving birth to a healthy baby.

As someone who did so much IVF to get 3 of my kids I am quite invested in this which I always acknowledge.

I'm with VicPark (see we do often agree). If not for medical reasons then no I just don't get it.

It's also seen as a form of eugenics which is why people get passionate about it.

    So I'll bow out.

As someone who did much ivf to get 3 children I don't have an issue with it if you had to do ivf due to fertility issues, why not do gs if you desired. I wouldn't understand anyone who was doing ivf for that specific reason though, I certainly wouldn't put myself through ivf uneccessarily

Gender selection to avoid serious genetic issues I get but for anything else im lost. eg the whole I want a girl because I want a mother daughter bond....you cant really predict how your relationship will be with your kids and eventually adults. Ive heard some people say that they want a girl so they can dress them in pretty clothes....well whos to say they dont want to dress like that. What happened to having a baby because you want to raise a happy healthy child....not im having a baby because I want a specific gender? Rant over...and yes I do realise I will get flamed for this.

Just wanted to mention being gay doesn't mean you don't like pretty clothes.

Surely if someone doesn't agree with it they can see the title of the thread, exercise restraint and not enter the thread though?

Yes sorry, I shouldnt have said that. I just think that people have their life mapped out and assume that if they have a specific gender well then their fairy tale is complete. If you choose to have a baby with gender being the priority you *may* be setting yourself up for disappointment. Thats all.
