    Default Paranoid

    Hi,

Am I going crazy obsessing over every weird feeling I'm getting?
I woke up with a cold this morning and now I'm so paranoid that this is going to harm my baby! I'm only 5/6 weeks... Today been feeling weird twinges which is probably normal but I'm so scared of miscarage...

@mzhemi Congrats on your pregnancy I am completely paranoid as well - you are not alone! I usually have general anxiety, especially when I feel things are out of my control, so I'm finding it quite difficult to cope with early pregnancy too.

A cold won't harm your baby, if you get a fever it can though so probably best to keep checking in with your doctor to make sure your cold doesn't turn into something worse.

I've had strange cramps and twinges and things like that the whole time (I'm just over 7 weeks now). My FS and nurse have told me that it's all completely normal and to only worry (and give them a call) if the cramps are really painful or I see bright red blood.

One thing I've found slightly helpful to calm my anxiety is knowing the stages where the risk of miscarriage drops. Ie: It drops to around 10% once you hear a heartbeat, 5% once you reach 10 weeks, 3% once you reach 12 weeks etc. I know things can still go wrong the whole way through, but I'm a statistics person so those sort of percentages make me feel somewhat better at least!
