Omg 12 months 😱😱😱😱. Please do not wait that long. Yes natural pregnancies over 40 do happen but I can vouch for how many women under 40 were on a long long Ivf journey. There is literally no time to wait. Sorry for being alarmed. I had no eggs at 34 so please get moving if you want your own eggs.

I would not be waiting much longer either. Ask for a ref for a specialist.
I would probably get your partner off to the gp for a sperm analysis form too.
Low vitamin d can impact fertility for women and men a lot. I'd be going up and getting some before your next appt.

ostelin is a vit d supplement. why do you need to go back to the GP for ostelin, it's available over the counter.

and please don't wait 12 months. don't wait at all. at 42 you need to get moving. agree with getting your partner to get a sperm analysis too.

    good luck!

I would get a new GP. Trying for 12 months is advice for someone in their 20s. Trying for 6 months for someone in their 30s. Over 40 I think it's trying for 3 months before FS.

Your GP is clearly out of touch with fertility issues

I didnt know ostelin was a brand..i have the vitamin at home...2nd i spoke to the nurse, not my doctor today. 3rd, my doctor gave me a very thorough checkup compared to a doctor i saw 3 weeks ago that just did a blood test and sent me on my merry way.
I said she might say 12mths, not that she said it...all reading material says is you cant go naturally in 12mths, thats when you seek help. I think im just so stressed out and wanting things to happen and its going against me so im thinking apart from getting checked out, i should just stop worrying so much to make it happen. But i will get the necessary treatment once i know whats going on.

I was vit d deficient during pregnancy (but wasn't told til after, thanks guys!) and have been taking ostelin. you can buy it from chemist warehouse.

the advice that says if you don't fall pregnant naturally within 12 months is aimed at women in their 20s, as a pp pointed out. that time frame is 6 months for ladies in their 30s.

if I were you, personally I'd be demanding action right away. you're 42, you do not have time to "wait and see". I'm not trying to alarm you either.
