    Hi ladies
Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the known egg donor program in Brisbane. My husband and I are considering this or Cape town. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated tia

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

    Hi everyone,

SO glad to have found this thread.
Just wanted to say hello. Thanks to all of you for your courage and honesty!
DH and I have chosen a donor and we are heading to Cape Town in December. Eek!
For those who have made this journey.. Did anybody take a child with them? How did it go with appointments etc?
Also, I'm so torn about disclosure- does anybody have any advice or stories about friends and family - when/who to tell?
    thankyou X

    Me - 43 Hubby - 44
    1 DS conceived naturally
    1 m/c
    3 failed cycles
Heading to SA in Dec for DE

    Default Superannuation

Another thing, we are drawing down from our Superannuation to fund this treatment/travel costs. We did it for our last round of IVF here in AU too.
Just thought I'd mention in case anybody has any questions in relation to this process. Apparently not too many people have used the Superannuation Early Release Form for Donor Egg o/s but it's relatively straightforward and I've been assured that previous DE applicants have all been approved. X

I was just recently approved for donor eggs in South Africa. It took some time but I was successful. I recommend using Hala from Supercare as she now knows all required for sa from CFC.

@Caesardust that's great to know - we are going thru Supercare also - our girl, Lisa, told us there have been three applications for DE overseas before us (obviously you were one of these!). We thought about applying without Supercare to reduce costs but have decided it's worth having them take care of it - particularly in relation to the psychiatrist recommendation.
Did it take long for your approval to come through? And were CFC ok with providing you with a letter? X

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

My approval took nearly 28 days and towards the end I was calling everyday and complaining which pushed it through. Be prepared for a battle and have time on your hands to call DHs and wait on hold for up to 2 hrs to get an answer on the progress. Although supercare were brilliant in the end no one cares about it as much as you. Once the application finally gets to DHs then hound them. They're useless!
