I've just received an invoice from CFC for my cancelled cycled in April. Has anyone else had to pay the management/planning fee for a cancelled FET before?

This sounds worrying. With all of those people leaving cfc it doesn't bode well. I had my doubts when the nurse left then the next one is only part time. It's too late for me to change now. Fingers crossed I get there and the clinic has walls!

The walls are very thick! It's not going anywhere and you're going to ROCK your transfer!! Sooo close now hun. Stay in the positive zone. .

The best one is the one who has the donor you want/like ...ask Cape Fertility for a listing of recommended agencies then register/look through their profiles til you find a donor you love. Good luck.

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

As per emski @Kate83 it's about the donor not the clinic, though in saying that I can recommend sunshine
@Tahli I dropped a line and the reply i got was that dr w left and took a few with him and may have started some of the comments, of course this is all hearsay but I guess I really did have a good experience as did others (even if not successful) around me so at this stage I'll stick to cfc my donor clinic have said that all their donors are happy with cfc so that's good news ! I would hate to hear otherwise

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

@Tahli @Caesardust and all - my thoughts: I'm with WDA and he was (unofficially of course) supportive of my decision to go with CFC -- albeit with his special treatment protocol, vs the back-to-basics CFC approach :-)

Last week when I was there I found CFC to be well organised and with much better communication than June-July around the time those staff left. The embryologist emailed me twice with updates, my embryos developed well under the embryoscope, and Dr Matebese definitely knew her stuff with the transfer. I felt well looked after, and I'm feeling positive, 5dp5dt!

If it doesn't work out for us this time, I'm confident that the clinic (not to mention the donor, DH and me haha) gave it a great shot.

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

I had a horrific experience at HART (Jun2015). They were amateurs, with the singular doctor just starting out, and the embryologist VERY young and experienced.

Our donor responded poorly to the process, and so to over compensate for this, Dr Edelstein pumped more drugs through her, resulting in a total over-stimulation.

This would not have been so bad, had he been honest with us. Instead they falsely led us to believe her eggs, and then resulting embryos were great quality. According to Kimenthra and CFC, none should have been transferred or frozen!

A lack of experience and honesty were our biggest issues with HART and Dr Edelstein, especially since both his young daughters were IVF babies, and he should have known first-hand what this journey was like.

Dr Edelstein is ambitious and heavily debted from opening up and establishing HART. I'm not totally surprised he's gone and done a deal with CFC'ers (read: 'stolen' talent!)

This happens in sport, so we shouldn't be surprised when this approach spills over to medicine ...

Happy to answer any additional questions others might have.

    Best of luck.

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

Sorry, should also have mentioned that our next experience at CFC (Nov2015) was so different, and so very positive.

Our doc was LeRoux, and I would strongly reco him. Elaine was our nurse in-person whilst we were there, and she too, was great!

We had the good fortune to also have access to the embryoscope.

Whilst we had a twin pregnancy success story from CFC, and 7 embies still on ice, our story had a bittersweet twist, as I lost one of my boys at 31wks, due to a "true knot" in Twin B's cord.

I delivered during a planned c-section at 34wks, after having been hospitalized for 3wks leading up to, as I (ironically!) had a complication of Vasa Previa with Twin A.

Notwithstanding, we view our CFC experience as having been stellar, and intend to go back - just figuring out best timing, as we navigate life with our little boy, as we head into week #7 of parenthood.

    Hope this additional info helps.
