Helloo - my first time in this thread :-) I had a great experience at Serum IVF in Greece. The clinic staff were lovely, very kind and empathetic and positive. That clinic is run by a nurse not a Dr - I reckon that makes a difference:-). There are Dr's there of course, but the nurses drive the patient care.

I calculated that to do a fresh cycle, when you include all costs (flights, accomm and my meds) it was about $15,000. Cost changes with the exchange rate of course and how long you stay for.

Big difference with Greece to SA is that in Greece they pick your donor - you never see a picture - very strict anonymity laws. So you have to trust your clinic. I liked Serum because they know the donors, know their personalities, get them to attend every day for their injections and for that reason can talk to you about what they're really like. Some clinics just allocate a donor that's available that week rather than a personal pre planned selection process.

I have a beautiful baby boy from my first cycle at Serum, and am now pregnant with twins from the same donor (third time lucky when trying for a sibling).

    Good luck!

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #13

Bubs arrived safely and right on schedule on Tuesday am, but I didn't fare so well. I lost around 6 litres of blood and had to be opened up again for a hysterectomy to stop the bleeding. They apparently 'nearly lost me' and poor DP didn't know what was going on for 3-4 hours. I'll deal with the hysterectomy in time I guess, but in the meantime here are our bubs

@Vixjc do they have a family limit/limit of amount of times a girl can donate? Can you see photos or do they just tell you their features, age, health etc? Congrats on your pregnancy oops sorry just read no photos. So they just give you hair eye colour etc. Do they match a donor to a photo of yourself?

I've had my depot injection! Slightly more real now :-)
I know it's supposed to suppress follicles growing and ovulation so I'm assuming I won't get another period before I head over?
