    Default Ladies need your input

    Hi Ladies,

    I need your input

    Just back from the Fertility Doctor and they ran the Y-Chromosome Micro-deletion and CF Carrier.

    The tests came back negative for both which I guess is a good thing but it still does not tell us why I have Zero Sperm.

    So he said the next step is to do TESE and given his attitude he was convinced that he would find something.

    So far I have had

    Testosterone 5.6
    FSH 5.9

    Go Down to
    Testosterone 3.9
    FSH 7.0
    LH 5.8

    So he knows its not my Hormones thats the problem, My pro-lactin was slightly above normal range but he told me its around normal so ignore it.

    So Ladies -- What is my chances here, The next step is a Biopsy but is there a chance they may find something? He never mentioned not finding anything so I guess in his 30 years as a Fertility Specialist that he probably knows that im not exhbiting symptoms that fall under all other categories.

    I am overweight but even with that he said its rare to get Azoospermia.

    Let me know please

    Thanks for your advice ladies, it looks like we'll just have to cancel my cycle if dh unsuccessful, then opt for donor later. I guess the wait shouldnt be too long, hopefully.

    @JimmyCricket
    my husband's fertility specialist says my husband's azoo is due to fat around his testicles (around his groin and his thighs are big)...hes pretty overweight, which has most likely damaged them. His tests came back normal except his fsh was very high. you should do an inhibin b test, this should give you an indication if youre able to produce sperm

    @Jimmycriket: sometime there is no good reason. U mentioned about diabetes? I read something about it will affect fertility. Not sure about azoo. Some people just born with azoo. No reason. Do have hope but be caution about managing expectation. Good luck!

    @bbhope

    ive paid the fee in march to get on the waiting list, and since we are doing ivf, it is a 4 month wait to get on top of the waiting list (i think 8 months for iui), but we cant get access to the donor options until we have our second counseling session, and our counselor wont give us another one until my husband has his surgery.

    Does this sound similar?

    Yes it does sound familiar. My case is different because I didn't have a back up for a different reason. I can only say what I know about others who were able to have donor back up. The mtese was scheduled about in 4 months after the Fs consult. When it was time, the list was released and chose the donor as a back up. If u don't find a suitable donor then u just have to postpone the mtese which the fs is normally happy to do. I think the problem is your counsellor who refused to sign off. I suspect the prof I has to back up his own staff and telling u that you can't have the back up either. As I mentioned, it has been done many times before. On the other hand, it isn't the end of the world to wait. I am just trying to see if you can speed thing up. I know that it is a long journey and waiting sucks.

    Hi I thought I would let you know what happened with us... My partner had the zero sperm reading but all normal hormone levels and sizes of his testicles. We opted straight for a TESE with no back ups as our doctor was very positive! My partner had the TESE done (he is normal weight and no other gene factors) and they found sperm and took almost 14 vials and the procedure was done in 15 minutes! The doctor said the easiest he had done... The next month we started IVF and were lucky to be successful on the first attempt with our first baby due in 10 weeks... We listened to everything our doctor said and I guess lucky in the end... They think my partners Azoospermia is from motor cross when he was younger and getting 'tank slapped' causing damage to the epidimys and blocking it... good luck and get your procedure done ASAP then you can take it from there
