With the monsters talk my dd started being worried about dragons. A month later we got our house sprayed for spiders and while dd was with me I asked the guy if he was also spraying for deagons and monsters. Luckily he clicked and played along saying he had. This then stopped talk of dragons

Sounds just like my 3.5 yo DS Harvs. It sounds like he's really testing his own limits (and consequently, yours too). I find that my DS goes in and out of this kind of phase and has done so for around 8 mo or so.

It is so, so very hard to cope with.

Hi harvs, this sounds very normal to me. My ds1 was like that at the same age, and also my dd is like that in many respects now (turns 4 in july). My dd wont sleep in the day now unless its if we happen to be driving. Some mornings she wakes up upset and it can make for a challenging day for her and us. I have noticed she seems to have more awareness these days and also having a growth spurt.

Default I need insights about DS

    Sounds normal to me.
But that doesn't make it any easier.

Thank you again everyone! I can't express enough how your responses have all brought me back from a one way ticket to Crazytown... @BettyV it's all good - your response seriously helped my perspective and then Dr Google helped me lose it again :-)

Now to survive the next 6 months or so...then it's easy! Right? RIGHT?

As everyone else has said, 3 is HARD. Wine and chocolate are the only thing that I've found that helps. Me obviously. The poor little mites are taking so much in and they just can't deal with it all.

Hey Harvs a lot (even the chopping the head stuff!) sounds like normal 3yo behavior. That being said if you have a feeling in your gut there is no harm in asking a GP to refer you to a pediatrician. Did that for my DS (as things just didn't seem right) and a few tests later there are some minor speech and other issues. We're getting some extra help early on before it becomes a big problem.

I suppose my point is don't panic, but don't hesitate to reach out to your GP.

    Hang in there.

DS is going through a "I will poo-poo on your head" stage....

Bwahaha...unfortunately I still find potty humour incredibly funny.

My ds is doing this too, although he avoids responsibility as he tells me that his lamb (comfort toy) is going to poop on my head. He also does this to his little sister.
