    Completely accurate.

We have a cook in each school that makes lunch for everyone on the day.
You eat sitting at a table with your friends, you learn to clean up after you, and then you spend the rest of the break running around playing soccer or elastics.

    I used to have a 2hr break

I could be working FT and pick up my kid straight from school in France.
    Here, no chance. 😕

I am sitting in an office building foyer, I have an interview in 20min. This thread is so depressing. If the interview goes well, I'll be trying to negotiate a 4 day work week.

I also just met with a recruiter earlier today who told me that unfortunately it will be very difficult convincing an employer in my field to consider me at part time.

I've been job hunting for 4 months.

    Sigh.

Good luck! I hope you knock their socks off enough to get the job and part time.

When I was teaching in London the school hours were 9-3:30

They did have an hour lunch break with cooked meals and no playground duty for teachers but it was quite rushed trying to get 14 classes through the "cafeteria" so everyone had time to eat and play.

It's funny but this is one of the reasons I do work! 😂 my mum was a sahm and wasn't involved at school and never took me anywhere anyway! I hope I can get the right balance for my family so I can have a career and be somewhat involved with what ds is up to. Wishful thinking though maybe?

Everyone's being saying how depressing this thread is so just wanted to say sorry for starting it!!

I guess from a selfish point of view tho I've felt much less alone after reading all your comments. 😘

I don't find it depressing. Sad yes that in 2016 women are in this position. But I believe things will change - and we and our partners can help things change. It's just very slow change.

Don't be sorry for starting it, one person may have one experience that can be the trigger for ideas for others. It's kind of nice to have it out in the open that sometimes life isn't so grand.
