@tuxcat yes 9yo was really tough... only girl affected in the whole school for obvious reasons so just to increase my torture i had to use the staff toilets every month. Yes try explaining that to your 9 yo friends bahaha this is why i drink.

I got my period at 13 years old. From day dot I had six day flooding bleeds which is why, consequentially, I went on The Pill at 15. I still got the flooding periods for six days but at least I knew when they were coming.

It continued this way all through my 20's and into my 30's. I was still on the pill and getting heavy flow for 5 days at 35, but after that they started to peter out.

I went off The Pill in January of 2015 after some 25 years on it. I got a break-through bleed and then nothing for 2 months. When AF did come back, it was some light brown blood that lasted about 4 days, and that was it.

Now-a-days, all I get is some brown staining, and really, I don't even need protection for it. A wipe in the bathroom every 2 hours takes care of it. The whole shebang only goes for 2 to 3 days as well.

My FS never seems concerned about it, but I spoke to my GP about it just last week and he was of the opinion that this is normal for a woman who is 40+ and has never had kids. He said the uterine lining is very much a 'use it or lose it' scenario, and if you've not had a pregnancy by 40 the lining doesn't recognise the need to thicken up each month as we would like, and that it is not unusual to need meds to help make that happen. I found that very interesting and wonder if it has been a similar experience for others on here?
@Blossom74 are you my missing twin?

Agree with @Maxwellsmum Luv. I never bled through Wazza's pharmacy of drugs when I got my BFN on Cycle 4 but did for the first 3 Cycles with my previous FS as I was only on Crinone/pessaries for those.

@Charlie74 I was 15 when I got AF for the first time. The first couple of days are always my heaviest (depending on what time she turns up), then on Day 3 it's light staining that tapers off to spotting for the following couple of days.

I seem to revert back to the light staining stage at maybe Day 4/5...it's like I have one last little surge of staining which I assume is the last of the lining being shed, then it's barely there spotting for the remainder of the day and it's pretty much gone on Day 6. Occasionally the tiniest drop here and there on the toilet paper.

So, AF lasts 6 days now which is consistent with when I was younger. In my late 30's up until after I had DD, I bled for maybe only 4-5 days tops (always with the first day or 2 being the heaviest depending). Since having DD they've gone back to a definite 6 days all said and done.
