    If you have made a private agreement then yes. If not, then the claim has to be processed, they will contact your ex and verify some details then send through an assessment of what he should pay.

    As PP have mentioned before, it will be backdated to the date of your claim.

    I hope you are going to get the agency to collect on your behalf, arguing about what and when already is a big sign saying don't do it privately. He should be paying from the point you separate, but the agency can only collect it from the day that you start the claim. When you called them did you go through starting a case?

    It just hurts that we were having a calm conversation and I answered a question and I calmly said not being nasty or anything saying that he should be paying and he said NO I shouldn't and hung up on me ...
