    Default TTC first baby

    Hello ladies,
My partner and I want to start a family next cycle and so I have been doing practice charting.
I have been off the pill since November last year and I have charted 2 cycles since with this current cycle being number 3.
I have been charting my BBT, CM and using OPK to figure out when I ovulate.
The previous cycles I have gone from 33 days to 30 days and then 29 days on my last cycle.
My charts were looking clear with my temperature dip around day 17 on cycle 1 and day 15 on cycle 2 and the temperatures were also matching up with my ovulation app, my OPKs and CM.
However this current cycle, I missed charting my temperature for the first 5 days after my period and when I started back charting the temperature dip was on day 14 which didn't match my ovulation app. I tested using my OPK on days 15,16,17 and it was all negative.
I think that I have ovulated earlier this cycle.
It is so important to pin point ovulation as my partner works away and so I need to make sure I tell him when he needs to take time off.
I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on charting BBT and if they use an ovulation app and OPKs to help with pin pointing ovulation.

    Thanks
    Belinda

I use Ovia and glow and they help predict ovulation based on your cycle but it's just a prediction. Opk and internal monitoring is best I think

Using your BBT is an accurate way of pinpointing O day.

You don't necessarily ovulate on the same day each month, but the time between O and AF should be roughly the same each month.

I went from O'ing on day 13, next month day 8, and this month day 11.
AF arrived 11 days after I O'd on cycle day 8, so I'm confident that my O day was accurate.

Using your BBT is an accurate way of pinpointing O day. But only confirms it, after you've O'd

Also, it is the temperature rise after O that confirms you've O'd, not the dip. You should notice an upward shift in temp after O. Fertility friend will confirm O after 3 days of higher temps

You're not really looking for a temp dip, you're looking for 3 consecutive days of temps higher than the previous 6 days. The day before the first higher temp was O day.

I know how frustrating it is TTCing with a partner who works away, especially if your cycles are not very regular. My DH worked away for over a year when we were first TTC and I had cycles that would range from 32 days to 55 days. It was almost impossible to pinpoint when the "right time" would be for him to be home. I have no advice for you on that front I'm sorry, my DH ended up quitting and getting a local job so we could keep TTCing and start IVF.

I would start testing with OPK's on day 11 of your cycle each time. They should give you positive 1-2 days prior to O, so you won't miss the positive if you O a little earlier than usual.
