I have only had 1 failed IVF with ICSI but the FS has said we have a low percent of success as i have endometriosis and severe internal scaring from multiple abdominal surgeries and DH has ASAB (anti sperm anti bodies) so together its tough even with ivf with icsi. I have made an appointment for tomorrow morning to talk it over again as i do feel pressured into making a decision without knowing what will happen which is quite scary. I understand the doctor is probably trying to cover himself legally for consent but surely there has to be some circumstances they can work with

I know no one else with fertility issues so DH and i dont have anyone else to talk to so we are feeling very alone.
    Hi there,

I think if you are questioning it and not sure I'd stick to one.

We had double transfers from day dot and went through 2 fresh cycles and a frozen, it wasn't until the 3rd fresh cycle we transferred 2 X average embies.... Who magically stuck.

Those little miracles are 3 now and it's crazy every day. I wouldn't change it for the world and what will be, will be.

Go with what you feel comfortable with.

Do singles. Don't waste embryos by churning through twice as fast, unless you have a heap of embryos, money, and mind what the drugs do you your body.

After about 4 failed cycles go doubles as by then statistically it takes 4 goes. So you need to up your game.

Your FS sounds like a kn0b and I would be looking elsewhere.

One time I intended to transfer one, but there was another embryo which wasn't freezable quality so I put that back too. Didn't get pregnant. Next time I decided to put two back in a fresh cycle and during the meeting with the embryologist before transfer she said they were really high quality embryos and I WOULD get twins. So I just put one back. I'm now putting her to sleep 😊. I

'm glad the embryologist told me not to put two back. I didn't want twins. There have been people on this forum who have miscarried because it was twins at about 21 weeks. Heart breaking.

I'm concerned about the FS too. Why do they need you to make a decision so early? They got me to sign off on the consent forms before EPU as a precaution but then said I had up until transfer day to decide. With my last fresh transfer I literally made the decision how many I was going to do about an hour before transfer. I just don't understand why they're putting you under pressure before you've even started the cycle.

I did double first up (against advice) then two singles and got bfn on all. My grandfather was a twin so that also contributed to them saying no they didn't want me to do multiple.

In the end it comes down to what you're comfortable with. If it's the real chance of having multiples, then try double but if you're not i'd stick to single transfers. Good luck!

So went back to fs and have signed a waiver to have 2 inserted if I please on transfer day. His main concern was legalities so after talking with him he said he would allow me to have 2 transfered if i only ended up with 2 embyros but if i had 3 or more i would only do a single so I am pretty happy with the outcome and start my cycle in less than 2 weeks now 😊

We put 2 in, and one split into identical twins and the other one created a sac but didn't progress. The reality of triplets is very real and at the very least, twins needs to be an active choice in this scenario. If you are in any doubt about having multiples, don't do it. We were very prepared for the possibility (my sibling had twins so we were very aware of the extra pressure of two bubs) and chose to do it because of age. It has been an amazing blessing for us, but please don't do it to increase chances when you really only want a single baby. My advice would be to make sure the reality of multiples is definitely okay with you too.
