Default NIPT and then NT scan

    Hi all,

I got my NIPT results back and all was clear for the chromosomal issues they detect πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜Š

I have my nuchal scan tomorrow which I'm excited for, but I was just thinking, if NIPT has come back good for chromosomal issues is there any point having the blood test that goes with the scan? That is just for indicating risk of T21, 13 and 18, right?

Wondering if I should just do the scan and make sure everything is where it should be, but give the bloods a miss since NIPT is more accurate!

The bloods are definitely still necessary. They measure HCG and Papp-a. They use these to measure your risk of pre term labour, pre eclampsia, and a few other things I can't remember! So you definitely need to get the bloods done.

Congrats on the great NIPT results and the baby girl πŸ˜„

I know you went through Genea. I had my bloods through them today. The basic test was $445 and for $495 they could give me the risks on pre eclampsia too. I did this test as Medicare refund that $50. The ultrasound place told me that the 13 weeks scan is now just an early anatomy scan and nt is not required if you've done the NIPT test.

A good us place will be able to check plenty of anatomy too, a bulk bill place will just be checking the couple of measurements required to look at the trisomies risks. It's amazing they could see spine heart kidneys, so it was an early morph scan.

My u/s is not through Genea so I'll make sure I let them know I've done the NIPT so they scan accordingly!
